Newb from Michigan

Hey all,
Names Mike and I hail from Michigan, 10 miles north of the palace of Auburn Hills. Just purhcased a 2000 Durango R/T 4x4 with 68,000 on the ticker for a little over 9g's. Super clean and fun to drive. Once I get it paid off (or close to) I'm going to start the mods. I'm thinking M1 intake, 50 or 52mm TB, headers/exhaust (unknown who yet), 4.10's, cold air intake, cam, chip, tuner, keystone body kits, rims/tires (unsure what size and brands), lower it a little if possible along with some other suspension stuff, mod the tranny a little. I'll be using the truck as a tow vehicle as well for my wheeler so I'm not going to slam it but I figure an inch or so wouldn't hurt anything.

enough delay, here are some photos.

Welcome from MI! FWIW, it's probably not worth the $ to upgrade from your 3.92's to 4.10's (only 4.6% increase.) You won't notice much of a difference at all. If you really want to regear, I woudl go with 4.56's.

Welcome to the DOC!

Your 3.92's (like mine) are good to go! Spend the money elsewhere my man!

Again, Welcome. Stick around, you'll like it here. Also, you should check out the plant where that R/T was built on our annual plant tour. It's just 2 weeks away!

Welcome!

I've been to Auburn Hills to tour the Walter P. Chrysler Museum back in '01 when they had the "60 Years of Jeep" exhibit on display. Since I owned an '01 Cherokee at the time, I thought it fitting to go check this display out, and to see the very last Cherokee built.
I also got to see the old Toledo plant where my Jeep was built before they demolished it, and even got to sneak in to the new Toledo North plant where the Liberty is built. Got a pic of my Jeep in one of the "DaimlerChrysler Executive" parking stalls.

You'll enjoy your R/T. I looked at one before getting my SLT, but couldn't justify the extra costs at the time. The cheapest comparable R/T was over $4000 more than what I paid for my '01 SLT.

Welcome aboard!

85burbanator,
Hi neighbor! I live in Sterling Heights, work in Pontiac, and generally drive all over SE Michigan throughout my day. Go Tigers & Pistons!!

And WOW - your R/T is a good find in Michigan; price, miles, and condition!
I recommend you keep the rims (I've always liked he R/T rims), keep the suspension height, and upgrade to Bridgestone Revos for our lovely mix of weather, potholes, and local dirt roads.

Welcome!

I've been through Sterling Heights a few times. I tend to shy away from dirt roads since I got this thing. Used to bomb down em, but I can't bring myself to do that to the Durango. It's too nice.

Here's a couple daytime pics

I know what you mean about the dirt roads! I try to stay very clear and cringe when I come to where one crosses a paved road sometimes if it's close to when I washed the D since, up here, it's inevitably muddy at that crossing.
