Well I've had my monster truck as my son call it , for 7,000 miles and 10months .
I have been smelling anti freeze for sometime. My wife told me hey our truck stinks like antifreeze .

So I drop her off to find out what's wrong.

They tell me it needs a radiator and it's on back order. I got a town and country as a loaner.

I miss beast mode already!!!

This is the dealers story

That's exactly what mine does, I have the heavy duty engine cooling... I think the radiator is just really good at getting the heat out of the coolant and we have sensitive sensors that show the swing more than normal cars. Never once had an overheat after they replaced my water pump. It never moved before the water pump replacement, just chalked it up to an efficient cooling system.

Exactly and now skippy is saying the same thing in regard to his cooling system being serviced like mine was.

Again I have never seen a car with out a issue and have the coolant temp needle swing so much.

Dealer told me the middle hash is 225 degrees I just wish who ever made that cluster would have put numbers on it.

Thanks again as some have checked there rangos for this condition for me.
I Really appreciate you guys and this site.

Rob, as we PM'd I guess it's the nature of the beast. And my ram, I was always able to see when the thermostat opens. The needle dips once. Then it may move a little bit.

Alright I kept a close eye on it today, drove 40 miles round trip, parked for an hour, then left for work. Noticed that if everything gets a bit of heatsoak would cause the temps to stay pretty consistent until I did a bit of low speed driving and coasting.

Rob, did you do the 2000 rpm thing as I suggested? Mine got about that high as I was staring at it.

I'm romping in joisey now, and idling in a lot. This is my view. 63* ambient.

Why are you guys comparing coolant temperature (gauge on right) with oil temperature (center)? They are not equal

Your coolant temp gauge is very sensitive. On my truck, 1/8" of gauge movement = 10 degrees coolant temp movement. The center of the gauge is 210* and the start of the first mark is 150* while the end of the first mark is 160*. I only know my coolant temp because I have a scan gauge. Once I hit 203 is drops to 193 (needle moves 1/8").

Your oil temp is completely separate.

I'm still getting a very light whiff of coolant, but tank really ain't dropping, and I can't see anything. Headed to Tenn in July.

Dealer can not duplicate coolant smell. Not happy about this

My evap purge valve was leaking and it was replaced, they flashed the module that Controls the seat memory.

I haven't picked it up yet.

Rob, I would not be concerned about the coolant temp needle moving. Coolant leaking is a different story and I'm sorry to hear about all your troubles. My build is 3/15 so I'm following this closely.

Is it possible the recent smell was because it was too full and once you were hot some purged out? Had that on another car of mine that I overfilled slightly.

And maybe you didn't notice the gauge move before because you weren't watching it closely? It would be interesting to know what temperature our coolant gauge marks correspond to.

I understand what your saying ,but my radiator was changed in Jan 16, I should have had any purge happen by now .
Either way I got the ride back coolant smell could not be duplicated. I told the writer I will be back. Can't make them see a smell.

Hopefully it doesn't leave me stranded

Parts exchange artists. Totally know where you are coming from there, glad you found the leak! I NEVER trust those clamps, if someone over expands them while squeezing the tabs they can get weak. I use all silicone hosing with stainless steel constant torque lined hose clamps, Breeze and Norma are the only USA made clamps I'll accept at work.

Well from the picture, to me, it looks like there is an arch of coolant stain that looks to be in line with the hose, also looks like its pooling under the edge on the hose on the aluminum. Not knowing the exact orientation and such i can't say for sure but looks to be the clamp. Seems like this should be warranty based on the fact yours is a 2015. If they are charging you make sure that its within the warranty period and push the topic. Remember to remain calm and collect while sternly voicing your disappointment with the quality of the repairs. No one likes to get yelled at even when in the wrong, and it make us look like fools when we lose our cool.

This is under warranty, the original radiator was leaking where the metal meets plastic , I have been smelling this since July 16 atleast. Radiator was replaced in Jan 16 . Either way I'm not happy. I assume once they inspect it further they can determine where the leak originated. Ps the dealer stated they pressure tested the cooling system multiple times and found nothing .

I would always use new clamps, preferably screw stainless screw clamps, with any hose replacement. Always better safe than sorry.

Ok since the master tech I am pointed out the obvious coolant leak my truck is getting another radiator.
I complained about clunking from rf, dealer determined my truck needs rf shock, control arm and sway bar link. Waiting till she's done.

From things I've read the control arms are consumables without changeable ball joints. This info is also stated on the rocky road lift page, they say the tie rod ends are fixed mounted to them but that has to be a typo. Sadly they don't make Arms for lowered or stock level, especially if they are beefier.
