This was the route I took as well. $0.57 a day ($2100 / 10 years / 365 days a year) is well worth not having to worry about pretty much anything to me.

Only have 6k miles on my wife's Durango, but called Clay and added the Maxcare as well. I've never been a believer in extended warrantys, but a friend who is a master mechanic just bought one on his wife's new Honda Pilot because of the amount of computer and sensor equipment they put in cars now. Another friend just bought an Acadia and within 10k a sensor went bad in her traction control system and her auto went berzerk. Nothing mechanically wrong, these cars just require so much from the computer system and those things are expensive.

Yeah. I'll be getting it as well. Racetrack tail light cracks, radar transducer and alignment, FCW, ACC, lane departure warning, and on and on. While we hardly ever hear of these things if one has to pay for any of them the insurance will just about pay for itself.

Someone help me out here....On the Mopar website, a Maxcare plan for my 2017 Citadel with just 700 miles on it comes out to $2,700 for 7 years/100,000 miles. A lifetime coverage (which I don't want as I would like it to be transferable) comes out to $3,430. Seems a lot higher than you guys have been getting quoted. Why would that be? Just because it's a 2017? I also agree with the line of thinking of this not being necessary until getting close to the end of your own factory warranty running out...so that means if I bought it then it would be even more expensive than this?! Lastly, how is it that a guy at some dealer (Clay) could give me a better price than Mopar's own website for the same thing?

Mopar website is retail. Dealers can discount down to their cost, which is why Clay (and other dealers) can offer it less than Mopar direct.

Yes, the longer you wait the more it will cost. To estimate how much, just plug in a 2013 Durango with 35k miles, and indicate it's still under factory 3/36 coverage. Then compare that to what you're getting for yours.

I am in communication with Clay on the Lifetime warranty for my new (to me) '14 Charger AWD. Clay's quote was $2500 with the $100 deductible. I imagine the extra couple hundred is because the odo is just under 30K.
We had the MaxCare 7/70 on our 05 Grand Caravan, and got back twice what we paid for it in repairs, loaner cars, etc.
I am a firm believer that the factory backed plans are the way to go. You can Google Warranty Gold (third party warranty group) to read about that nightmare for a bunch of folks.

If you have plenty of money around all the time, save your money and pay for it when the repairs come. If not, the extended warranty can be a good investment.

I think I'm going to go with a Mopar warranty on my 16 R/T, but I had a really good experience with Mercury Insurance on my 11 Crew. Payment to dealer was prompt to the shop so no waiting around. I paid under $1000 for the 7 year 100k miles. I had a lot of issues with the V6 and electronics between 50k-70k miles and had over $5000 in repair completed so it was well worth it.

Just got an amazing quote from Clay. I'm going with a eight year 125K warranty. That warranty is not even offered on the Mopar website. I just don't get it how this guy can do it so cheap and also have a warranty not available on the Mopar website. This is an example of the huge benefits of being on good car forums like this one. I don't think I would have heard of Clay otherwise.

Newbie here, great thread, but it looks like my Dealer did a real number on me.... I thought I had bought the Mopar Protection but discovered that they sold me a third party "The Mechanic" contract at $2999.00 for 84 mos and 100k miles. The Mopar Contract looks like a deal I would like to do but has anyone had experience with canceling a third party contract like "The Mechanic"? I am feeling more than a little sore at my dealer right now.
Most warranties offer a prorated refund. If you can get a refund and get a different warranty cheaper that might be an option.

If anyone is with USAA I would take a look at their extended vehicle protection through Assurant.

I have wrap protection which basically covers anything the manufacturer warranty doesn't cover up to 100k miles with no deductible. I bought the car used. If was very reasonable. Covers rentals only when the car requires a full day (8 hrs) in the shop.

Plan: Manufacturer Wrap Protection Plan
Contract #: #########
Beginning mileage: 8,515
Expiration mileage: 100,000
Expiration date: 01/25/2020
Cost: $822.00
