I would have thought the black plastic would hold up better than the painted one. Strange. What about mud flaps? That would help deflect all that debris from hitting the back. Gonna have to look into that myself if this is the case.I only have about 16k on the Durango and the plastic trim by the rear wheels is beat up more then I thought it would be for such low miles. I don't know if it's because it's o low, or the plastic is weaker then what's on my 07 Jeep GC 60k on the Jeep. I was thinking of painting it, but not if its gonna get beat up. I'd rather keep it black.
Yeah, and keeping the chrome accents on the bottom would give it a unique look, different than the optioned package. I too dont know if painting this kind of trim will work. I have a buddy of mine that owns a body shop and have sent him a message asking him, hopefully he responds and sheds some light. I will update as to what he says, including price quote if he gives me one.
I was just going to comment on mud flaps... have Mopar on both mine and plastic is holding up very well!!! AND I live on a gravel road
