Hey people, wondering if anyone has gone out and color matched the bottom black trim that goes around the D? My SXT has the chrome accents all around, and the bottom trim pieces are black. I was thinking of one day getting that painted white. No knowledge on what surfaces can be painted over so dont know if they can do this. Here is what mine looks like and what I think it would look like afterwards (minus the chrome door handles and grill) .... your thoughts?

I've always wanted to do this with mine... like the RT look (now they have lower models with color matching accents)

BUT... not sure how the textured black trim would look painted... in order to look right, I would think the black plastic would need sanded first.. OR order smooth, ready to paint lowers and then have them painted.

I only have about 16k on the Durango and the plastic trim by the rear wheels is beat up more then I thought it would be for such low miles. I don't know if it's because it's o low, or the plastic is weaker then what's on my 07 Jeep GC 60k on the Jeep. I was thinking of painting it, but not if its gonna get beat up. I'd rather keep it black.:(

I would have thought the black plastic would hold up better than the painted one. Strange. What about mud flaps? That would help deflect all that debris from hitting the back. Gonna have to look into that myself if this is the case.

Yeah, and keeping the chrome accents on the bottom would give it a unique look, different than the optioned package. I too dont know if painting this kind of trim will work. I have a buddy of mine that owns a body shop and have sent him a message asking him, hopefully he responds and sheds some light. I will update as to what he says, including price quote if he gives me one.

I was just going to comment on mud flaps... have Mopar on both mine and plastic is holding up very well!!! AND I live on a gravel road

Which kind did you get? Any pics of them on, by chance? THanks
The Mopar guards... part numbers 82212021AC and 82212022AC

no decent pics of them.. but here is what I have on hand...

The new Durango's are color matched at least the citadels are luckily mine is about the same color as the lower plastic so it's not as noticeable. You should get mud flaps on these for sure.

these are husky mudflaps they work great and pretty simple to install once you figure out where they mount.
