First road trip vacation in my Durango....could have been better. Installed a Specter air intake system (from JEGS,,SUMMIT Racing was on backorder)...on the 6 banger and it works great and it is louder. est 2-3 mpg gain. Durango was doing great untill i started scrolling through the menue of temps and pressures and noticed the transmission temp was at 245 with red numbers on the screen. Ive built many transmissions for drag racing and thats way too hot. So...after almost 970 miles one way to centeral Florida (and only 9k miles on it) i took it to Bill Bryan Dodge in Fruitland. FL. Valve body was replaced due to it not "talking" to the computer correctly. I was told the electronics that are normaly mounted outside the trans are now inside and in the fluid. WTF?? That did not fix it..was told that parts would have to come from other Fla cities but did come in very fast. Repair came down to a bypass valve on the line running to the trans cooler. Was told that a bypass valve was in place to let the trans fluid get to a specified temp before opening and letting fluid flow to the cooler, some emissions and aleged mpg BS!! I will be scrapping the valve in the future for full flow as it should be. Everything is fine now, temps between 190-200 flying on the highway and my thanks to Bill Bryan Dodge in Fruitland, Fla. they do fast, good work, the trans tech that fixed it was very nice, professional. 3 days in a loaner Dodge Caravan sucks..so every one going on a trip WATCH YOUR TRANS TEMPS.
