I ordered the 2001 Chevy lowering shackels (1 set.) Is this all I need to lift the rear of the D? Just the one set of Shackles? They go on the end of the leaf spring closest to the rear correct? Any tips/suggestions would be great. I just soak in WD40 for a week, jack up by the frame and start unbolting? I thought I read something about putting a bottle jack between the frame and the spring? Is this neccessary? This will lift the rear about 1.75" correct? Sorry I'm full of questions!! Thanks in advance.

Shackles

You'll have to remove the hitch, if you have it. Also you'll need some washers as the shackles are a little wider than the D frame. You'll need 2 different sizes as the bolts have a shoulder on them making them thicker at the head end than the nut end. Some people use hose washers, but if you want something a little more permanent then get real washers.

ok sounds good. Do the shackels I ordered from macsprings come with new bolts?? So I can just get some washers from the hardware store and good to go! sweet. Thanks again

shackles

Just reuse the bolts from the original shackles. They'll be fine.

Ok I got the lift on and all is good. I was just wondering if the top part of the shackle that bold to the frame is supposed to pivot with the springs when they move or if it's supposed to stay straight up and down? When it sits with no load on it they're angled twords the rear and was just wondering if that's ok or if I should make them striaght up and down and try to tighten them so they don't pivot. Thanks again for the help

That's what they're supposed to look like
Sounds like all is well with the install.

I'm going to install some of these Ride Control Helpers I found at Autozone tomorrow and see what happens. Then I'll snap some pics of the shackles and stuff. I really like the D sitting up higher?looks like a truck!!

Should I get an alignment when I'm done because of the angle change in the front with the torsion bars cranked??

Nice

Nice job!
I like the painted factory rims as well.
Adds a nice touch.

It's the Graphite color. It looks sweet when it's cleaned up. The winter was a little tough on them, I have a couple chips, but didn't let them cure long enough before driving on them. Should have taken more time. It's a good product though! I put on the clear coat after the paint and then did the center caps with decals.

They're 32x11.5 BFG All Terrrains and I love them. They're great off road, and quiet on the highway! They only rub a little bit on the frame when you turn the wheel all the way and, as long as you know that, it's fine. I actually want to go bigger but have to wait for these to wear out! Thanks for the comments guys. I really need to clean it up though!!
