Idle is controlled by the pcm. Generally @ 600 rpm or so with A/C off and @ 850 with it on. If not idling then time to clean the circuits in the TB and clean or replace the IAC.

There appears to be a screw that the throttle sits on but, there is no head. The other side is just a flat plate.
 
nope.

the PCM controls the idle speed. Period. *some* throttle bodies have a minimum-airflow factory adjustment, but that does not affect the idle speed (but if you muck with it you CAN cause an CEL code)..

What is the problem we're trying to solve?

it was idling at about 1000 rpms but, I had a mechanic at work look at it and he got it back down to 700 where it usually idled
 
Bad battery can cause a p0505 FYI.. adaptive idle settings get lost and the PCM decides it can't control the idle.. What are the symptoms (aside from the code)?
