It's the wife's vehicle but I do drive it and am a passenger sometimes. She doesn't see the issue with it but I do, especially when driving in the middle of the night and it is the quietest thing I've ever driven in and then randomly, rattles for a few miles for no reason then it just stops. It absolutely is not Eco mode, turned it off and issue did not go away. I've shaken the door at home violently without reproduction success leading me to believe it is on the driver side dash or steering column. Any ideas?

Check the drivers side hood hinge, there is a round wheel looking piece where the hood portion closes down on and sits on it. i had to put a sliced piece of rubber tubing on the hood portion where it looks like a big C or U.

As RobDa says the glasses holder in the overhead is another area that makes noise and while driving you swear the noise is coming from the passenger area, very deceiving.

Go with Mike on this one. I had the same issue. Sounded liked it was coming from the A-pillar area in the dash. There is actually a TSB for it that has to do with the hood hinge bolt. The dealer fixed it for free. Also, the tube he's referring to, I taped mine down to secure it as well just to be safe that that wasn't going to be an issue. Problem solved.

here is the fix for me, i have the RK sport Hood and that rattle was so tough to find, it only rattled on bumpy roads, hard acceleration and turning some times.

This is interesting, I wonder if this is what I'm hearing. I swear it's my side view mirrors that rattle but I haven't figured out where. Gonna have to try Mikes suggestion

That would be sweet if that was the case with that tubing. I don't think my wife even owns a pair of sunglasses to be honest... It's happening on what feels like smooth roads though. Does anyone have the TSB? I thought the issues were pre-2016 model. Doesn't make sense why they wouldn't have fixed it by now.

So first thing I noticed what looks like the throttle wire (probably isn't) wasn't attached to the holder and that definitely could have been smacking against the air filter box. I reseated that. I see that area near hinge. Why would they put metal on metal there? That's so dumb. I think I'll try the tubing or just put some marine grease there. I'll first see if it's better with that cable re secured though. Attached pic to show what I'm describing.

This is the TSB I gave them that fixed my issue.

i could do this on mine

"The hood hinge can be
checked in the closed position by grasping the hood near the rear corners at the hinge and
lifting up and down. If excessive motion and/or a knocking sound is produced or the
customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.""

Do you have a garage door opener n the car? If so check that. A day gone past, we had one that would do what you mentioned. Took me forever to find it. It was clipped to the visor and took forever to find. Hope it helps

i swore it was the washer hose too. its the hinge

Take a pic Mike to show us where you fixed it.

See page 1 of thread.. But I even wrapped the round roller looking thing with Velcro thinking it was that before. I have some smaller tubing or edge guard that will conform to the hinge U better i need to try. Yesterday i dropped ed the front hood hold down a little as well as I had a bit of movement at the hood latch unless i had the 2 adjustable bumpers turned up high and the hood line was a little to high vs the fenders.

I've noticed a rattle in ours as well. Sounds like it's coming from behind the DIC. The wife hasn't noticed, or at least hasn't said anything, and I don't want to point it out to her because then it'll bother her ...

I tried lifting up and shaking the rear corner of the hood, and it's tight. No movement or sounds produced when lifting up on the corner. It needs to go in for the front brake caliper recall, so I'll probably point this out as well.
