Does anyone know what parts are different on the RT exhaust vs other models? Is it the suitcase muffler or the resonators, or both that make the RT sound different from other V8 models?
The part#s themselves are different, but I cant really say for sure what the diff is between a Dual exhaust R/T and a dual exhaust on a V6. Some have said it's the same exhaust, but considering the part#'s are different, not 100% sure. Also, the Citadel has extra insulation in under the cargo area and wheel wells which mute the sound more than on an R/T which has no insulation back there. As such, a Hemi in an R/T vs one in a Citadel would sound different inside the cabin, even if the exhaust is exactly the same.

I've been curious about this, because I know the suitcase and resonators are different on other Mopars between the V6, 5.7 Hemi, and the SRT. On most of the lower trims it's a 3 pass inside and on some R/T and SRT's it's straight through. All I know is I cut the resonators off of my R/T and the suitcase isn't doing much muffling :D.

I know this link is from LX cars but the exhaust systems look pretty similar. I wish someone would donate their stock catback or try to check if it's straight through or not once it's removed.

Citadel and R/T exhaust definitely have a different sound outside the truck. The Citadel exhaust is quiet..no rumble at all inside or out.
My hunch is most of the sound difference is due to a different suitcase muffler.

Yep. Heard a stock rt take off the other day and it was definitely way different that how my citadel sounded before the axle back.

so as not to start another thread...
Does anyone know FOR SURE which Durango models that do not already have dual exhaust will accommodate the 2017 R/T exhaust? Looking for a good home but would like to advise what model/trim it will fit. The bumper would obviously have to be modified by the rig receiving the transplant and perhaps the hangers too. Having just removed my R/T exhaust for the new Corsa cat back system I was able to see exactly how mine is configured. I don't know if the single exhaust rigs have hangers for the driver's side or not. I'm sure a muffler shop could configure it but it would be nice to know if that would be necessary or not. Last thing, has anyone modified the rear bumper to accomodate a dual exhaust? New bumper cover? With paint that could increase the cost of the dual exhaust quite a bit. Hmmm. Thanks in advance for any info. Please...no guess work...only submit what you know from personal experience.

FYI...the removed stock exhaust is like having a Kraken in your garage! Big monstrosity.
