Just thought I should actually pop in here to say hello. I've had my 2006 Durango hemi for several years and have lurked this forum for answers before. Now I'm actually excited enough about keeping the Durango I figured it was time to get actively involved. I'd post a pic but if you've seen one black limited you've seen them all.

So life has been in the way, but I've been keeping up with keeping the now 210K Durango on the road. With five semi adults and two dogs the addition of a large roof pod has made cross country travel so nice. We don't like to fly and there's so much to see out there.
Anyway, I did add a resonator from summit, the highest rated quietest they had and a straight out tip. What a sound difference that has made! Still loud at all in but very civil in the back row when cruising AND zero drone in the cab.
Dumped the CAI and just put a K&N in the stock set up, feels the same to me, lol. Also adds to the quieter sound.
So many interior parts getting replaced or upgraded. Found rubber molded flooring to replace the factory carpet, needs installed with sound deadner. Broke a rear row seat buckle had to order that from Mopar. New seat back with pocket for drivers seat from RockAuto, new blower motor for front and a couple of rear door window switches. Stock up on window switches when you can. I like the 2009 switches, they work the same and look better. Deep tint all around of course. Here's a shot from when I drove over to get my Great Grandfather's car in 2016.

Thanks for that link. I never knew there were a black pair for the 07-09 available. There were none OEM I know. Appreciate it. And your D is looking sharp!

Nevertheless.. OUT OF STOCK - Unavailable until further notice more details on - https://www.carid.com/spyder/black-...tory-style-headlights-mpn-hd-jh-ddu07-am-bk.html?singleid=1159673053&url=735023
Of course OUT OF STOCK, isn't that always how it goes? Sometimes CARID leaves the supplier part number on the page, makes searching for the lights other places a lot faster.
Thanks for the compliments on the looks, it's good to find a place that can appreciate the ultimate utility of these (midsized) Gen2 SUVs. All the other competitors are either bus sized for the same capability or are a direct rip off of the design, (looking at you MB).

They were, I will say, too much of a change from the Gen 1's when they were first brought out. The design just didn't sit well and they never caught on. But those of us who stuck with them have found them to be really capable and actually really nice vehicles. Public perception is absolutely everything though and they were doomed. I've grown to like the 04-06 but I still think the 07-09 refresh was monumentally improved and if that was the launch look, they would have been more accepted. The angular aggressive front end they came out with just soured a lot of people, which is a shame. I applauded their design for being different and cutting edge, but they cut the edge clean off.

Sorry to anyone with an 04-06 who thinks I am insulting, because I am not. I remember seeing them new and thinking 'sweet fanny adams what was Dodge thinking'? But I've definitely come to understand and appreciate them.

I agree fully, the cute ute mini truck look of the first generation drew a lot of buyers. It was like the little engine that could do all the things Suburbans could do but without the parking lot pain. Then came 2003 design overhauls throughout the product line, RAM picked up a design that would remain stylistically unchanged for about 15 years. 2004 brought on a new 'bigger?' Durango and with it a full break from the mini truck feel. I remember thinking how big they were when they came out, (really their not much bigger) and round and angular. When the Chrysler Aspen came out I thought at that time that it was the only version (save for the Jeep Commander box) that I could be happy with.

But I did buy a 2006 and I think the design has gotten better with time, it was just too much too soon before the 07 refresh and only now can it be appreciated. Brutal is the word I use a lot to describe my D's performance and looks most days. If there's one thing it doesn't do it's half measures. Anyone who's pulled a mountain pass and had a 3/4 throttle kickdown can tell you what I mean. Not enough speed up the mountain? Ok, here's all the power, enjoy going 90 up this pass. :D

Can't argue that. All these years later I'm still impressed with the giddyup that 5.7 has. Smooth as silk still. And it's well overdue a tune up even. It's done everything I've asked of it, and I feel perfectly comfortable towing my pontoon boat with it, even though it is not first in line for tow duties.

The towing capability is surprising, the way the internet reports on the 545RFE you'd think it was made out of Lenox crystal. But so far 210K so good, only had to replace the solenoid pack and an ECU.
