So how do we lower the rear end of the Durango?
Opposite of what you'd think, I think. I recall something about adding blocks.

Okay,

What blocks does one get, and how much does it lower the D? Are there any ill effects? I have Bilsteins, and really don't want to make the ride any more jarring than it already is.

You need to check what axle you have. Durangos are built with two different size axles. 3" and 3 1/2. It doesn't matter if it's 2wd, 4x4 or R/T. I used a steel lowering block kit by DJM. It was the 1" steel block kit for the Dakota R/T. The Dak R/T has the heavy duty axle which is 3 1/2" dia. The 3 1/2 has a 12 bolt octagon shaped differential cover. The 3" has a 10 bolt cover. Or measure the distance between the U-bolts. The 3 1/2" inch U-bolts are also a bit larger in diameter so the shock plate holes need to be enlarged a bit. 3 1/2" block kits are tough to find. I don't have the part number with me I got it through stylinconcepts.com.

There are also a ton of posts on Dodgetalk. Search on Neil F. and blocks

So I thing what my problem is is that I'm lookin g for one bolt only. There's a bolt for each side isn't it?! If so I found them and sprayed them up. Thanks for all the help

I cranked mine down 2 full turns each, which theoretically is 1/2", to try to level it a bit. It didn't seem to make much difference so I'm going to go further. How far can we crank these down before we start riding on the bump stops? I noticed my bumpstops are almost 1.5" (or more) tall. Can they just be cut with a hacksaw?

The bump stops can be cut with anything. I use a course dry wall saw to just rip giht through them.

I have seen where Bumpstops were cut before or replaced with Urethane flat Bump stops after lowering torsion bars.
Each Full turn either clockwise or counter clockwise is 1/4" movement.
Don't forget as I stated above you're supposed to always end torsion bar adjustment on the tighten mode.
SO for a 1" drop turn bolts counterclockwise 6 full rounds then tighten up 1 full round.
For 2" drop turn bolts counterclockwise 9 full rounds then tighten 1 full round
make sure as you're loosening the bolt you keep an eye on the amount of thread you have left so you don't back all the way out.
