Is it possible for me or the dealer to disable the remote start with key fob feature? This morning I put the key fob in my pocket and went down to the garage 10 minutes later and the vehicle was running.
I found a solution to your dilemma. Don't wear SKINNY JEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!If i'm at my computer or similar and wearing the skinny jeans my g/f's like other keys and such have hit the buttons.
I think that will infact disable the remote start, but isn't it also part of the Alarm/Security circuit? It would be easy and cheap to test though. The remote start depends on the hood being closed, so there's a switch integrated into the hood latch. The connector for the switch is just to the passenger side of the hood latch.
When the hood is closed, the circuit is open; when the hood is open, the switch closes and the remote start is disabled.
I think that disconnecting the connector and shorting it with a jumper wire might simulate the hood being open all the time.
Indeed, I'm not talking about the painted on ones, just ones that "fit" like 501's are skinny jeans. And last time I refused to "dress up" I was refused things I wanted. I'm a wide leg pants guy.I found a solution to your dilemma. Don't wear SKINNY JEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's what the service manual says:I think that will infact disable the remote start, but isn't it also part of the Alarm/Security circuit? It would be easy and cheap to test though.
I think the only way to tell is to test it out.The hood ajar switch is a single pole, spring-loaded plunger actuated switch that is integral to the hood latch mechanism. When the hood is closed and properly latched, the latch mounted hood ajar switch is an open circuit. The output of this switch may be used for the Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) system as well as for the optional remote start system. In both applications, the switch detects whether or not the under hood area of the vehicle is secure. The switch is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the headlamp and dash wire harness.
In vehicles equipped with the premium Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA), which is only available on vehicles manufactured for sale in certain export markets where protection of the under hood area is required equipment, the switch protects the under hood area of the vehicle from unauthorized tampering. In domestic vehicles equipped with an optional remote start system, the switch prevents inadvertent remote starting of the vehicle while there is a potential for someone or some thing being in harms way within the engine compartment.
Hold on, your girlfriend... dresses you up?...last time I refused to "dress up" I was refused things I wanted.
Perhaps a Durango is not the right vehicle for you.Indeed, I'm not talking about the painted on ones, just ones that "fit" like 501's are skinny jeans. And last time I refused to "dress up" I was refused things I wanted. I'm a wide leg pants guy.
