So i went to my big local Dodge dealer and checked out a 15 R/T. However, they didn't have the options I wanted nor could they find one close. So i said let's order a 16's.

I'm a Chrysler awards member so I gave them my code and asked what the final price would be (R/t, Sunroof, split captains 2nd row). They said they wouldn't know until the order is put in and their order guy wasn't there (saturday) and they would put it in monday.

That was it. No deposit, no papers signed.

Wednesday the sales manager called and said the order is in but they don't have pricing yet. Only MSRP. He said the order needs to reach a certain build status to provide invoice.

So that was 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard from the dealer since. I've emailed the sales rep and left a voicemail for the sales manager with no call back.

I've never had this type of experience ordering a vehicle (did it once before) and am unsure what's going on and if they are telling the truth on not knowing the invoice.

I'd like to have the price so i can get my financing ready and just know where I'm going to be on payment after what i want for my trade and down payment.

They don't know what they are doing. They could easily do a "Purchase Order Confirmation", which will give the MSRP, Invoice, FFP, EP and holdback numbers without ever even submitting the order.

This is bullish*t. No sane dealer will order a vehicle a vehicle for a customer without some form of deposit being placed, refundable or not as well as not knowing how much profit they were making on the deal. The invoice prices are out on Edmunds.com, so there is no possible way they can't have it.

Once they put the order in, they get a VON# within a couple days that is used to track the vehicle across the stages of the build. You can't track yourself (unless go to jeep garage.org and become a supporting member), but that # means that the order was at least received and confirmed. I would ask them if they have this, but seeing as it is 3 weeks later, they can probably pull the VIN too.

That's what I figured. My only guess is they figure they'd be able to sell the car I ordered with or without a deposit.

Edmunds shows my invoice is 45741 less 457 for the 1% under invoice.

Should I shoot for that price or try to deal them lower?

Thinking I might give these guys the finger and go somewhere else.

BS. Find a new dealer.

I'm affiliate pricing, placed an order yesterday and had the VON in about 10 minutes. Dealer had the full print out for me that showed MSRP, Invoice and the affiliate and family pricing and the holdback $.

Brother go to DaveSmth.com. I got a 16 RT, price out the door for 46K, and they will ship it to you. If you decide to go that route let me know and I will refer you to the sales guy who hooked me up.

My RT is AWD, rear captains, Tech, blacktop, sunroof and the oil heater. Price includes tinting, flaps paint treatment and paperwork.

I disagree about a dealer not ordering without a deposit. I ordered a Jeep in 2014 with no deposit, on a handshake. Pricing agreed upon at the time of order. When it arrived, I was out of town for the week, and they let my wife come pick it up without any paperwork. I went in the following week and did the paperwork, exactly as agreed upon with no drama.

I guess that's living in a smaller midwest town for you.

I bought my DD from the same dealer, obviously.

My guess is they didn't order it, and are trying to either find one from another dealer, or waiting for their standard "dealer inventory" orders to come in; which may have what you are looking for.

Either way, they should be able to do a POC and give you the numbers.

For affiliate pricing, 1% below invoice (plus a $70 fee) is where you should start your negotiation. There's still the holdback you can cut into, and of course, any dealer items which can be negotiated too (like extended warranty, tint, protection packages, etc ...)

My dealer gave me the FFP price (FFP is listed on the POC, and is the "1% below invoice + $70 fee" price) and then further discounted it with 75% of the holdback. I landed around 9.8% off MSRP. My sister is looking to pick up a Jeep, and he agreed to give her the same deal: FFP price minus 75% of the holdback. And he also agreed to give me the referral bonus, which I will of course give right back to my sister.

You need to straighten your dealer out, or go find another one if you live in a place where it is reasonable to do so.

What was your MSRP and who paid the shipping?
