As I left out yesterday I noticed a puddle under the front of my D. I couldn't believe it so I pulled forward a bit and left it to sit for a while to verify it was coming from my truck. Went out later and it was. I was in a hurry so I didn't really have time to investigate, but it looks like it's coming from the opening where the oil pan plug is. A quick look under the hood and I couldn't see anything leaking from above. Really pissed about this because I've only had the truck for a year. I am due for an oil change right now, so I'll take it in and see how it goes. I guess it's time to flash it back to stock and put the stock airbox in. Don't need them saying either of them was the cause. Anyone else have any leaks this soon?

Are you sure it's oil? Is your coolant resivoir tank low? Do you smell the sweet smell of antifreeze through the grille? Most of us RT owners experience a coolant leak either the water pump or radiator about a year out.

Coolant reservoir tank was low when I looked yesterday. I used a white napkin to wipe up the leak on the ground and it looked like oil, so I just assumed. I'll go check for the sweet smell.

Just checked and it doesn't smell sweet. Smells like oil. Also, it's not the reddish color that the coolant is.

Stick to the plan to take it in. Could be a loose oil filter too.

Put a wrench on the oil pan plug and see if its snug if it looks to me coming from there.

I had a oil leak right after my first oil change from the oil filter housing. Oil filter tube was cracked from Hammerhead at factory installing the oil filter too tight!
Dealer had to replace. No issues since.

Check basic but make them fix it up for you

Is it worth it to flash back to stock and put the stock airbox back in? Don't really feel like doing that, plus I hear you can only flash the ecu so many times.

Put it back to stock if going to dealer but CAI can stay

Turns out it was an oil leak. They said it was coming from the oil filter and that I had "waited too long" to get an oil change. Apparently the interval set by Dodge and tracked by the car is too long to go between changes. I've never seen oil filters leak when being overdue for an oil change, but I will keep an eye on it. I'll start changing the oil at 5k-6k miles now too. I guess the low coolant was just a coincidence.

I will be the first to say this bull shit. Contact dodge and explain what these idiots told you.

This may not be BS. I have seen oil filters rot out and leak. Most recent was a Ford Diesel about a year old, 8800 miles and the original filter had a rust bubble right at the dome and was weeping. One other time it was a "neglected" wix filter. Leaking.

Wayne ive seen what your talking about on work truck and are used for snow plowing and general crap work.

If I read his answer right , they told him basically he over used his filter.

i think we need more info from the OP. Did it rot or did it loosen up? Etc.

They described it as the o ring seal on the filter wore out.

HAHAHAHAHA. No. It would take years of neglect to get that seal that far rotted, and by that point the metal can would most likely be rusted away. Get a different dealer, yours sounds like a joke like mine. They either didn't oil the seal when they put it on or otherwise screwed it up installing it. I went 8,000 miles on a filter and it still looked almost brand new. Keep following what the car says if you're comfortable with that.
