Can I ask a question about this without pi$$in everyone off? From the pictures anyway, it doesn't look like a huge thing... Why's it so desirable? Seriously, I'm not trolling the thread. Just curious. Is it just the SRT affiliation?
I can only speak for myself and I know the only reason that I'm doing it is because I ordered ours with the radar red interior so it should look right at home and be one more accent piece. Had we gotten the standard black interior I don't think I would do it

Personally, I think it looks good with all the other red in the vehicle. Has nothing to do with SRT at all in my case as I have a Citadel with a V6 :) Black and red look good together in my opinion... I also have the Beige/Frost interior not all Black.

hey do i need to disconnect the negative battery terminal and if so what all is involved with that? will that require any reset of the electronics once the battery is reconnected ?

no, simply unplug, plug back in and you're good

alright i got the red switch installed and it does look fantastic. I would caution others though that this isnt all that simple and there is a chance you could damage the center console trim and/or ignition switch trim. This isnt a fun job, my center console trim was VERY difficult to remove, the orange plastic clips were very stiff and it took significant force to remove it. Enough that I was worried the whole plastic trim section could of broken.

The ignition switch itself is also not easy to grasp. I depressed the bottom tab since thats all you can get your hand on, then kinda jiggled up and at an angle outward to remove. It either wont budge, or will come right out so dont force it.

Youve been warned

Can we do this on a 2011?
Different start button, so not without at least using a different part.

'14+ don't have the removable cap and the hole to stick the end of the (damn) FOBIK into.

Red button installed. Had a clip break off the center trim at the bottom when pulling off and part of the plastic ignition ring broke off pulled the old button out. The red button went in with ease and no issues other than the two plastic pieces. The trim clipped back in without the piece and red button installed. Be careful as stated with the clips and pushing the old black button out.

This mod should be on everyone's to do list. Perfect install directions, everything went smoothly and it only took ten minutes. Thanks again

Has this been done on a 2016? Just wondeing if the addition of ESS changes anything since the wording on the button is different right?
I just ordered 1UL96XR4AC (the newest version), so I'll let you know.
