A couple of weeks ago my wife was driving her car and said some lights came on so I had to check it out. Since I was working on it I decided to go ahead and break down and replace the mds solenoid I've been needing too. Got that taken care of in about 4 hours. But any way the esp/bas & traction control light are on but not the ABS light. The light don't come on when you start the car or put it into gear only when you turn the steering wheel one way or the other then they stay on until you kill the car and restart it. I've tried recalibrating the steering angle sensor and cleaning the sensors on the back side of the rotors as well as the hub where it reads but to no avail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance

You definitely need a good scanner. My Innova 7111 was $500 and can even read the radio DTC's. I borrowed a $300 Bosch scanner when my wife was having an issue with ABS on her Equinox and it only led me to which wheel. The 7111 was able to tell me it was a sensor read issue, which led to a rusted wheel hub losing some magnets so the sensor couldn't function. It also had the function to automatically purge air from her ABS pump.

I will say that the Transfer Shift motor on these cars is problematic. Mine would flash the 4LO light and would try to shift when it was parked, luckily, it didn't try to shift when I was driving it because some vehicles have and it would grenade the transfer case and transmission. The Transfer case shift motor is about $400 for OEM and $200 for aftermarket. Beware though, because my first aftermarket motor was worse than the failing OEM. I ended up swapping it under warranty and the 2nd one has been golden for about 2 years now.

OBDlink MX+ $140 can interrogate all modules and paired with alfaobd software ~$60 you can do active diagnostics and even change BCM configurations which can add features that only a dealership could.
