Any recommendations on hard wiring radar. Fuse tap is out bc the fuse box is under hood. Any advice for an acc wire to tap into under steering wheel would greatly be appreciated.

The auto dimming mirror has power, so the easiest route is to get something like this:
Amazon.com : PerformancePackage Mirror Mount Radar Detector Bracket + Mirror Wire Power Cord for Escort : Automotive
The cover around the mirror pops off pretty easily and you can tap into the wire harness found inside. I used a volt meter to find out which wires to use. I installed mine several months ago and it works great! It took me 20 min tops.
Post some pics.

I love the look, but jeez.. my rearview mirror already covers so much of the windshield from my vantage point that it'd be impossible to see out the passenger side of the windshield

The wire tap works great, I'm very pleased with it. The mount the comes with the kit does work, however due to the rain sensor/headlight camera bulge being in the way I can't get the detector up as close to the mirror as I like. It works well and is paid for so I suppose it will do for now. I'll try to post a picture this evening.

curious... hooking it up this way, does the radar turn on with the ignition? or do you have to power on the radar?

there is fairly easily accessable firewall access (via rubber gromet) through the passenger foot well that you could tap into the fuse box if you wanted... doing this should turn the detector on with ignition

I used a mirrortap when I installed my Valentine One. The first unit they sent had prongs which were much too thick and couldn't be inserted in the plug. I returned that tap and asked for the smallest size prongs available, once I received the new tap, they slid in no problem! The tap will power the detector at ignition, so if you leave your detector on it will automatically power up when you start the D!

With my 2015, I installed a Valentine One with a remote display. The display is right in front of the gearshift, where I can toggle the mute button easily with my right hand.

I tapped power off of the 12V cigarette lighter (back side, tapped the wires), and ran the power under the dash, up the A-pillar, and under the ceiling liner to the radar detector. It's keyed, fused, and otherwise perfect.

I just got an Escort Redline and mounted it with the BlendMount and Mirror Tap wire. Probably took no more than 20 minutes for the entire job, easy peasy! I'll have to post photos tonight.

Here's the view with the unit installed...

The bottom of the R/D is less than 2" below the mirror:

A look at the right-hand side of the installed unit. I fed the wire up over the top of the housing, there's enough space between the housing and windshield to do that, and used a black twist-tie to keep it close to the mount - they do provide a thin, black zip tie, but I preferred something I could easily remove if needed.

I followed these directions from the Jeep Garage forum. One difference, the wire harness came out from behind the headliner, and it was a white plug going into the back side of mirror. You will plug the MirrorTap wires into the back side of that white plug.

I ordered the parts from Amazon.com

BlendMount - $79.99

MirrorTap Wire - $24.99
