Install time - Less than 2 hours

Quick overview: after watching the two videos that I will post here, I attempted the install. Rear bumper removal was the hardest part, the two push pins on each side you need to remove can be a pain in the ass, specifically the one higher up, using a smaller pair of wire cutters I just snipped the backs off of them since they aren't reusable and they popped out. once the screws on each side are out and the 2 screws under the rear center of the bumper are out, here comes the fun part, REMOVING THE BUMPER. I encountered a problem on the driver side, the bumper wouldn't pop out and when I gave it a good pull I actually snapped the bumper bracket (which you will see in the picture. Keep an eye on this area you need to pull the bumper off the screw hole first since this bracket connects to the bumper somewhat, hard to explain but keep an eye on this area. Once this area is not snagging the bumper pops out pretty easily. Another note is when pulling the fender trim away to get the bumper off, DO NOT pull the trim off any further than you have to when taking the bumper off, there is a tab holding the trim and can easily break apart if you try to pull more of the trim away. If you start with the drivers side this is where the connector is to unplug the rear parking sensors.
After the bumper was off it was pretty straight forward removing the 4 bolts for the bumper support. I had the OEM wiring harness clipped behind the rear bumper so all I needed was the 7/4 pin connector that plugs into it, this was straight forward plug and play. after sliding the hitch into the frame I secured the 4 bolts plus 2 extra I purchased and loosely tightened all first and then tightened these bolts up TIGHT.
Installing the rear bumper back was also straight forward, the bracket that broke on the driver side does not allow me to install one of the screws but everything fit snuggly and tight, this part when I looked it up costs about $10 so I ordered a new one and will replace it when I get around to it since it is not a high priority.
Installing the rivets on each side was a breeze! simply put them in the tool that they come with stick in the hole, and squeeze they pop right in!!
Body shop had no problem painting the fascia for the hitch, turn around time was 24 hours and I couldn't be happier with their work.

all in all it wasn't to bad, a little patience taking the rear bumper off is mainly the moral of this post, the bumper comes off easily so if something is preventing it, DONT MUSCLE IT. included are come pictures for reference. Thanks for reading! this forum has been awesome since I purchased my D 2 weeks ago so i'm just trying to contribute something!!!

one more thing, while the bumper is off, POLISH THOSE TIPS =)

How To Videos, Credit to original posters, thank you!!!!

I very much want to do this, too. Check with other dealers in your area on activating the hitch wiring. Some here have paid around $60.

Great job!

I know the feeling! New Jersey is the same way, how was the wiring? I'm always paranoid when messing with electrical. The bumper seems to be exactly like my Subaru except they just used push pins.
I had the factory harness on the truck already I believe all of, if not most of the r/t's comes like that, so for me the connector was clipped under the bumper and it just plugged into the OEM 7/4 pin connector that just clipped onto the hitch itself.

I had mine activated when I had some of the recalls done. They charged me 1/2 hr labor which I think came to around $75 or so. had it done at smithaven

Hey 2015 Blacktop.
Did you order w/out the hitch or was it a D w/out a hitch on the lot? I order w/out and have regrets. After reading your detailed post, I think I will add to my to do list.

I got an in stock D, it did not have the hitch, very straight forward install if you ever decide to do it I can always lend a hand!

Snapped the same bracket on the drivers side, luckily it was a fairly clean break so I just put some locktite on it, the passenger side was pretty easy. Awesome write up, I'll be doing the wiring tomorrow as I got called into work one of my associates called out and somehow all my other employees were no where to be found

Once you see how the bumper is on there you want to kick yourself for doing that, alls it needed was a little pull to the front of the car and then out ...... Still kicking myself for that one.

I know it, the passenger side was a breeze. I was like why isn't this coming off and really pulling at the drivers side then it cracked off and was telling my brother how you even mentioned in your post about that little piece and to be careful lol

For those of you who will follow this thread as an example, it worked awesome. Attached are how I wired my '14 Limited with the factory wiring harness which leads right to the battery.

Hope the pictures provide some assistance, I'm just a novice so I'm sure there's probably a better route but it worked for me.

Finally got my kit ordered, Is got a package off moparamerica now I just have to double check everything it comes with against what I need. Hopefully it'll be here within the next week or so.
I'm also looking to do this on my '14 Limited I just bought last week. Do you have the part#'s of the factory wiring harness that is needed? I Found a good price on the hitch and that install looks fairly straightforward (thanx to this forum) but didn't realize I needed to wire all the way to the fuse box. So do I need two kits?

I ordered mine as an all in one essentially so I'll have to double check for the wiring kit part numbers. Installing the hitch is so easy, hardest part is getting the bumper off. On that, make sure you pull the bumper from inner wheel well. Check out his write up I did the same thing he did. The wiring harness is one giant thing so only 1 is needed.
