For the past 18 months or so, my wife and I have been down to only 1 running vehicle in the family, the Durango. I was getting ready to leave South Korea so I had to ship my 74 Nova back to the States. Once we got back to the US we picked up the Durango and hauled my 2005 Magnum from New Hampshire to Texas where it was put in a shop to get a motor built for it. Long story short, the engine builder was "less than professional" and the car STILL isn't running.....don't even get me started on that guy!

When we got settled into our new home in Lousiana, I went to replace a flasher relay on my Nova only to find out there wasn't a single fuse in the car. I had been driving it for 9 months in Korea, never needed to check a fuse, so I had no clue the fuse block wasn't there. That made me rip out all the wiring and replace it with a Painless kit. I got it running about 2 or 3 months ago, ran it around the block once, and then parked it in the garage. I went out the next morning hoping to use it as my daily driver and I found a large oil slick under the car. Apparently it didn't like sitting for so long without being run so it showed its displeasure by developing a crack (probably) in the oil pan.

So here we are, 3 vehicles and only 1 of them runs. Talk about 1st world problems, right? It just got to be too much. My wife works from home and the kids homeschool and my work schedule is so ridiculous that we couldn't plan anything. Our kids haven't been able to get into sports or other activities because we've only got the Durango and I need that for work. It wasn't fair to them so I bit the bullet and decided to go get another car.

I started looking around for another Mopar (of course), with emphasis on the LX's, and I found this:

It's a 2006 Charger SRT8. It's got almost 128K and it's not in perfect condition, but it's not unusual for a car that's almost 10 model years old. I didn't get it so that I could brag about what a great deal I got on such a reasonable and practical car. I got it because it's a 425HP sedan that runs like a scalded dog:

Now I've got some pressure off me so I can fix the Nova and Magnum on my own time and my wife can enjoy the Durango that was supposed to be hers in the first place!

Those are some mighty nice vehicles that you have. The Charger will be a good vehicle for you and your family while you fix the magnum and the Nova. The only problem is that none of them appear to be Red.

NICE RIDE ...Good Luck with it

That's the OEM hood. Great car, I've had my 07' Charger SRT8 since it had 8 miles. Almost 9 years old and still only has 73,000 miles. Not sure of the mods? Get a CAI, exhaust, and the Diablo canned tune and you will definitely feel the difference. Get a custom tune and you'll be like wow! Of course you already know about power with your blown D. Anyhow, enjoy. Nice to see another one on here.

Yep, OEM hood and I'll be leaving that one alone. It looks good and performs well enough, so I don't see any reason to mess with it.

I've already got a Trinity and I'm running the canned 93 tune. That was the very first thing I did. I'll save the custom tunes for any major mods, when and if they ever happen.

The exhaust isn't stock although I don't really know what it is. I like it enough that it'll be fine for now. I'll have to crawl underneath again and look really closely for any markings on the exhaust, but I didn't see anything that stood out the last time I got underneath.

Anyone who has read any of my posts should know that the only CAI that I'll run is a LMI. This car will be getting the true V2 CAI.

As part of the deal with getting this car instead of some crappy-but-reliable $1500 econo-box that required forfeiting my man card, I had to agree to not do anything that would keep the car down for more than 24 hours, including unexpected delays, until the Magnum is running reliably. After going so long with only 1 running car, that was something my wife and I both agreed to. That means no major mods for a while. However, that doesn't stop my gears from turning. When all is said and done, or at least the direction I want to work towards, this is how I see my garage:

--The Durango will be the boosted family car that is capable of towing the Nova to the track, making a few respectable passes on its own, then towing the Nova back home.
--The Magnum will be reliable enough to be a daily driver when my oldest son starts driving in a little over 2 years.
--The Charger will be a comfortable daily driver in full street trim with AC and street tires with a big motor and probably some boost.
--The Nova will be my drag car. I foresee a healthy motor (but NOT an LS swap) with a pair of turbos, a full cage, steel panels, lexan glass, capable of 8's but I'll bracket in the mid-9's (<150mph) so I don't have to pack a chute.

Haven't done anything new to mine in awhile other than new HIDS and getting a new V1 when I got the D. LMI didn't exist, he was just a cool dude on LXForums back when I frequented the site. I have the AFE CAI, but the Legmaker sure is perty.
