Whenever I hit the power tailgate button twice to begin the opening procedure it doesn't respond. Sometimes I have to hit it 2 or 4 times after that to get it to respond. Anyone else notice this? or is this an isolated issue occurring only to me?

On the fob?

I usually hit the unlock button first, then 2 clicks of the liftgate always works for me.. seems to have something to do with waking up the control module..

Jon,
I have had this issue @ times, but not with any consistency. I have chalked it up as user's error on my part, maybe not clean on the double tap. tomk's advice sounds very logical and is definitely worth a shot if this is an ongoing issue for you. Good luck

I've had this intermittent issue as well. It seems to work better if you unlock the doors first, but that could be a coincidence?

yep, if I'm any distance from the D I have to hit it 4 times to open. If I'm right up next to it, twice works.

I always unlock first otherwise it takes more hits on fob
Weird

Mine does the same thing. I always have to press the fob button 2 sets of 2 times before it opens if I am approaching the vehicle when it's locked. If it's already unlocked, or you are close enough for the vehicle to detect the fob, then it may only take 1 set of 2 clicks to open it.

One of my initial (very minor) frustrations with the Durango is the slow power liftgate. The other day, as I was opening it with the handle on the liftgate itself, quite by accident I hit the button a second time and it seemed to open faster. I found this in the manual:

If the liftgate handleswitch is pressed while the power liftgate is opening, the liftgate motor will disengage to allow manual operation.

I'm wondering if it disengaged the motor and allowed the struts to take over? I haven't had a chance to test this out. It may also depend on when you hit the button a 2nd time during the stroke. Wondering if anyone else wants to check their power liftgate to see if this happens?

Glad to see this isn't just me-- having the problem of having to hit the button numerous sets of times to get it to work, unless unlocked first as mentioned.

Quoting myself here but thought someone may be interested...the power liftgate definitely opens faster if you hit the button a 2nd time on the way up. Talking about the button on the handle itself. I'm guessing it disengages the motor and lets the struts do the work. Just in case you value an extra 0.5 sec in your day :cheesy:

I tried this mine just stops opening then I have to lift manually . This did disengage the power lift but the struts do not lift it maybe they lost some of the charge in the first year.
