Gang, New kid on the block here. Wife's 98' 4x DD is making a tremendous squeaking noise while depressing froth fender up and down. It appears most components up front are non greasable. Looking for suggestions on what the squeaking is. Ball joints maybe, collapsed shock? It's late and just glanced at it tonight. nayone have suggestions on what to check might save me some greif :) Thanks guys!! Sorry I'm not blessed with mech ability to a great extent

Welcome to the DOC :!:

If your shocks are fine, then the squeaks are all most certainly coming from the front sway bar. The bushings there are terrible for getting the squeaks. I could hear mine squealing just getting in and out of the truck.

Do a search on sway or swaybars and review posts from the last 6 months. Plenty of great ideas and homemade solutions to the problem (motorcycle chain wax is a fav.) I had my bushings on the OEM sway replaced at the dealer and could have bought a whole new afternarket sway for the same money. And after 6 months, it squeaks again, allbeit not nearly like it did. Others suggest a replacement of the sways to a better aftermarket version (Hotchkis) with urethane bushings (in my personal plans to do so.) Either way, excluding something being broken (BJ/shock), I'd bet $10 right now that it's the front sway squealing.
