I was not irked, my friend. I was just afraid that people who could help me would lose site of my issue. The build sheet shows $48,510.00 but does not provide the invoice price. I am told they will take $900 off of the invoice price and then take off any incentives/rebates.
Well I understand your desire to keep the original topic close to the top. It's a big decision. Unfortunately, I don't know what the difference between build sheet and invoice and MSRP is, unfortunately, so while my initial reaction is that it sounds like a reasonable deal, I really can't speak with any authority.

Go to one dealership. Negotiate to a good price, almost ready to sign. Then ask to take it for the day. Drive it to another dealership. First guy that talks to you, point at the durango you drove in and tell them it belongs to another dealership. Make it clear you will buy the one you drove in if they don't sell you a car for better.

I went from the sxt (previously negotiated and on a day drive) to limited blacktop with sunroof and captains chairs for $1800 more.

IMHO 900 below invoice is a decent deal.

When the vehicle configuration is put into the computer, your salesperson should be able to print out something that looks like the attached.. which shows all the various prices..

FWP = factory wholesale price (Invoice)
HB = holdback (money the dealer gets after delivery)
FFP = friends and family (affiliate) price
EP = employee price

That is actually a good strategy if it wasn't a factory order.

Tom:

This is gold! Thank you for this great information. This is exactly what I will ask for. Two questions:

1. The holdback seems very high. Is that the standard holdback?

2. You had one item on restriction (which I know means unavailable). Can they still place the order with something on restriction and it sits in the queue?

That is the standard holdback, I haven't done the math. Expensive vehicle ;)

I think that restriction flag was false, this was the pre-order config.. the vehicle was successfully ordered, I'll see if I can find that page..

edit: just found it.. it is called a "Priced Order Confirmation".. I believe that actually happens after your order gets scheduled for build (it has a VIN on it). This was a week after the order, and you'll see it has a price increase on it... which I didn't pay, the dealer got it back from Chrysler.

Pretty Great deal

CK, I'm a little late to this party, but it appears to be true that you can't get the 2nd row console with armrest & storage with the Red Nappa. Not sure why, but that's what the order system indicates. When you have them do the build for you, you should see a sheet exactly like tomk showed you, so that would be the ultimate place to look. Don't place an order without getting one. (my local dealer gave it to me without me even asking)

I took delivery of my D eight days ago and I am still getting spam from the dealer asking if I am still interested in buying one. Funny how the internet tech works sometimes. I factory ordered and paid dealer invoice and I am happy with that. Sounds like you are being offered a good deal.

Mine gave me that sheet without asking as well. That sheet, basically, is what your order is going to be should you decide to have them click the button and commit the order.. A dealer that does not put that sheet on the table before doing the order paperwork is asking for heartache 6 weeks down the road.

Now, they don't necessarily have to tell you what all those numbers mean.. but it isn't exactly rocket science.

So, an update for those fine individuals offering advice:

It appears everything on my list is available (including the red Nappa leather) from the factory EXCEPT the center console for the 2nd-row Captain's Chairs. So now, I have some thinking to do. Here are my options:

1. Take it without the console (my last resort as I want the console).

2. Take it without the red Nappa leather as the black leather version is available (a virtual non-starter as I want my red leather).

3. Wait (oh, I don't do that so well). I have a dealer calling Dodge Monday about future availability.

4. Order it without the console and hope by the time it is delivered, it can be added by the dealer.

By the way, thank you for the build sheet suggestions. I am getting them now.

Just found your post. Yes, you are correct, I am hearing the same thing and placed my options in my other post. My guess is the supplier of the center console is late to supply the red leather version and only is supplying the black.

I am assuming the rear console does have leather, right?

Try to order red leather with black console and have reupholstered in red. I wanted to add the second row console and its not available with the red stitching and was 3x higher to order afterwards than when specing out new.

I am concerned about color matching the red leather and having that particular leather not being under warranty.

The dealers are telling me the red Nappa Leather interior is available, but the second row center console is "unavailable for the foreseeable future". As FINELINETOYS states above, I could always order with the black leather and then reupholster, but I am concerned about the color match.

I have never seen the center console, so would it look good with red seats and the black leather center console (with the red stitching)? Does anyone have a picture of the black leather console on the RT?

I wanted to catch up those of you were diligently following my saga.

I am being told now that I cannot order the red Nappa leather interior unless I am willing to forgo the 2nd-row center console (even in black). Plus, even if I did want that (which I don't), the Durango's are not on allocation and I cannot even place an order.

I am not sure what to believe from these clowns. They all put up so many roadblocks to ordering what I want and then follow up with something on their lot to consider.

It's always hard I find to get exactly what I want. Usually it's a matter of accepting what they have on the lot and negotiating the price to be more adventageous.

We just leased a new 2015 Durango Limited a few weeks ago, and it had crap on it we didn't want (safety and security group, sunroof, captains chairs, etc), but it's what they had on the lot and they wanted us to take it. So, we made them match the lease price we had on our 2012 that we had just turned back in. They kept saying, "it's $6k more than your old one, it will cost more". And we countered with, "but it's not what we want, and we aren't willing to pay more for this stuff we don't want. If you want to move the car, you will have to match the price". And that is what they did.

It isn't surprising that you can't order red leather with the black console.. the standard order process doesn't allow anything off-menu.

As far as "allocation" I don't know. What usually happens is that orders open on the first of the month, and close when the plant has orders for all they can make in that build timeframe. I don't know if orders have closed for the D this month at this point.

The specific term "allocation," though, usually (IIRC) only applies to dealer stock orders and not customer orders..

So I order the red Nappa Leather without the second-row console and it looks like a Grand Caravan...or I go with black, which I was trying to steer clear of. Not an enticing list of options.
