I am ready to purchase a DD. For once in my life I would love to get a really good deal. Reading through this forum I have heard that 1% below invioce is the average deal, but then I have found threads that say thier deal was 5 to 6 thousand below MSRP which would be 10% below invoice (huge differance). I don't want to low ball and look like a fool, but as it is this will stretch my buget to the max. The salesman had mention that he just sold a Challenge SRT and only made $100.00 on a $50,000.00 car, so I don't want to insult him with a unrealastic number.
I am looking at a white 2014 Citadel w/5.7 Hemi - 6,029 miles (saying that the dealership owner drives the car, & it did have his personal items in the SUV) Tech pkg. Tow pkg. Captins chairs with console. Chrome Appearance pkg.
MSRP $52,565 minus the $750.00 rebate thru 3/31.
I would only buy this one if it was a great deal as I don't need the Tech pkg. & 5.7 isn't a must. I wasn't to impressed with the sound of the Hemi - It must need aftermarket exhaust to sound like what I thought a Hemi would sound like. Plus, with 3 MPG less than the 3.6 it doesn't make sence for me.
What I do love is the Citadel's chrome grill & Chrome appearance pkg. And interior light frost beige color and captins 2nd. row seats.
Plus, there are very few Citadels in my area. Only one other that I would concider, a black 2015 at $46,480 msrp. -3.6, no tech or tow or chrome package. The thing is, I do like white better.
My Question is what should I or what would you offer for the 2014 ?

I love the Tech package and think you should "Load"whatever you get with options. The pricing from what I understand from your post is that you can get a 15' for same if not lower price. For a 15' at the 52k+ MSRP ,you would be looking in the 45-46k range for out the door. The dealers seem to be staying too firm on the 14' holdovers for who knows why... Also Hemi for the obvious reasons if possible. Good Luck and " SHOP AROUND" the country if need be.

Yes,The 2015 is cheaper because of the fewer options. mainly the 3.6 instead of the 5.7 and no teck pkg.. The one thing the 2014 has to warrent a low ball offer is the 6,000 miles on the odomiter, its practically a used vehicle.

Nothing practical about it, it's used. $42 maybe? Easy for me to spend your money. Also, don't know about your neck of the woods, but in California, there are bigger rebates specifically for the 2014 AWD Citadel. $2,750 if you can prove you own another truck I guess.

Well it is a used vehicle, 1 yr.old. I was referring my previous pricing for Equally Equipted D's. The 15' you reference earlier with a 46k MSRP, you should be able to pick that up in the 40-41k range. Close to what the Loaded 14' you're referencing.

Because you didn't list any prices here is a little food for thought.

I recently bought the following
2015 R/T
Granite CM
Rear entertainment pkg
tow pkg
blacktop pkg
uConnect with nav

MSRP = 46,975
Factory Invoice = 44,742
I paid = 42,600

Don't let a sales man say he didn't make any money on a $50,000+ vehicle and don't let a dealership tell you they aren't making money on a deal.

After going thru my personal experience here is what I suggest you look at before buying.

I built a 2015 citadel for you on the Dodge site and here is what I got for the following

2015 Citadel AWD V6
White w/frost beige interior
second row fold/tumble captains chairs
second row console with storage
chrome appearance group
tow pkg
tech pkg

MSRP = 49,770
Factory Invoice = 47,095
You should pay around = 44,500

That is for a brand new factory order. I am getting all my info from both the Dodge site and TrueCar however prices can vary depending on where you live.

You didnt mention prices on the two you were looking at so heres what I would do if the wallet could handle it and if the dealership isn't willing to work on something on the lot.

Also where do you live? Many of us have dealers we have workd with and who are willing to match True Car or get damn near it we can try to help point you in the right direction.

I live in the Albany, N.Y. area. If they don't accept my offer building a 2015 without the Hemi does make alot of sence, ty
Just my $0.02 I would offer 42k on the slightly used but still used Citadel.

If they dont take that then look for another dealer and see if they would build you something with all the options you want.

Thats how I looked at it.

Why buy something that has stuff you don't want or is missing stuff you want when you can just as easily build what you want and will likley be spending less in the long run.

I didn't think they would go that low. But NADA says $43,500.00 being used. 52,565.00 minus 750.00 rebate makes it $51815.00. So I will offer 42,800.00.
That is $9015.00 off - I just didn't want to get laughed out the door, but I really couldn't afford much more than $43,000.00 - tax alone would be another $3,440.00

$42,800 sounds good to me. Yeah once said and done tax, tittle, and all that good crap was close to 4,000 for me.

So you are saying 5 to 6 thousand off msrp is fair. Ty
I might offer 46 thousand and hope he doesn't throw me out the door.
Don't worry about hurting the salesman's feelings. Because if given the opportunity, he WILL hurt your feelings.

If you're Lucky that's all that he will attempt, more than likely he will try and HURT your financial situation if you allow it. Figure 10-12% off MSRP, if he refuses to work with you to those numbers, walk away and find the one of many who will.

I was also bidding on a dealer's demo (14' Citadel with no options and 6,000 miles) with MSRP of 44,390. I offered 35,300. Their counter offer was was 38,775 and they would not refuse to consider anything else. Frankly, I find it ridiculous. Good luck to the OP, I hope you have more luck than I did.

P.S. Just got a word from a dealer who I am working with about an additional $500 rebate (in addition to the currently advertised $2000 for Limited) being pushed by Dodge to move the 2014s. Looks like he maybe onto something because yet another dealer who prepped the contract for me also added 2,500 without even asking.

I picked up a 2014 Limited 2 weeks ago. MSRP was $43, 530 and we talked them down to $36,300. The first dealer we went to, on the same Limted wanted $37, 500. They let us walk over $1,200.

The link below is my Limited but we have the second row console.

New 2014 Dodge Durango Limited For Sale Near Kansas City MO in Overland Park, KS | VIN: 1C4RDJDG9EC979404
My local dealer let me walk after I told them I would pay the extra $3,000 only if they threw in the blacktop package (a $300 package on the R/T). They refused to throw it in and insisted on giving it to us at cost.

We went 300 miles away and paid alot less and got everything we wanted.

They really didn't want to take out money.
