Hello, I'm new here. My wife is driving an 07 Chrysler Aspen and we are looking to trade it for a 14 Durango R/T.

I'm looking for more information about what the Nappa Leather Group offers.

I read about it on the Dodge website, but would like to hear what people think of it and whether it is worth the additional cost.

I appreciate your help.

A.J.

I have a 14 R/T and I have the napa leather group. I ordered mine because there were none out there with options and color. Ordered in September and picked it up late October. I debated on the napa group, but the option that it comes with I think is very handy. It is the rain sensing wipers. That is the only package that I could get them with. It does come with auto high beams as well. I could live without the ventilated seats but I'm sure I will enjoy them in the St. Louis heat in the summer. For 995 I think it is a good deal. Hope this helps.

The Premium Nappa Leather Group comes with:

1. Automatic High Beam Headlamp Control
2. Cargo Compartment Cover
3. Cargo Net
4. Floor Console with Leather Armrest
5. Leather-Wrapped Door Panels
6. Lux Leather-Trimmed Bucket Seats
7. Perforated Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
8. Power Tilt / Telescope Steering Column
9. Pwr 8-Way Driver Seat w/Memory and 8-Way Pass Seat
10. Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers
11. Ventilated Front Seats

Numbers 1 and 10 I couldn't care less for--I have these options turned off in the UConnect settings. I prefer to be in control of visibility tools myself.

Numbers 2 and 3 I personally prefer--the cover to keep nosy people from seeing what I'm packing around (especially valuables), and the net to keep stuff from sliding around in the back (I had this in my Charger and loved it, it kept stuff from sliding toward the front of the car so I wouldn't have to lean in to get stuff out).

Numbers 4 and 5 I think give the car a better look than the everyday hard plastic you see on most vehicles.

Numbers 6, 9, and 11--the ventillated seats will come in handy during the hot, humid summers, especially considering the seats are black leather. The all-power seats are nice and allows for precision when positioning the seat; the option to program two seat positions to memory is such, such a convenience when you have someone else who's going to be driving your vehicle at times. You have to be careful with the seats, though, as they're perforated--anything that can catch on those perforations (think pet claws) will damage the seats.

Numbers 7 and 8--I have mixed feelings on the steering wheel: it feels really nice to the touch and the heated steering wheel is awesome in the winter if you have cold hands, but the stitching on the inside of the steering wheel really bothered me at first (it's stiff, rough to the touch, and rubbed my thumbs a little raw until I adjusted how I drive). I also thought the power steering column was a waste and I wouldn't like it, but it's really part of the memory options for the driver's seat so it does come in handy and, like the all-power driver's seat, allows for precise positioning.

Overall, I think it's a good investment to choose this group for the convenience options it includes and the appeal it adds to the interior appearance.

We ordered our R/T and Nappa Leather was a must. The ventilated seats will be so worth come mid August! Personally I think if you compare the look of the standard seat against the Nappa it just looks and feels better, the options it comes with are just the icing on the cake.

What happens with rain sensing wipers in the car wash? I guess I should enable them.

I like the look of the leather door panels. I wish they had a leather wrapped dash option, I would have paid another $2K for that

Disable more so.

The ventilated seats are...will be awesome when summer finally arrives here in Texas!! Agree 100% on the leather wrapped, stitched dash option.

The Nappa leather was why I decided to go with the Citadel rather than the Limited, for which there wasn't even an option for the upgrade. The difference in leather quality, the little luxury touches the package adds throughout the interior, and the cooled seats were all substantial differences that I would highly recommend for the marginal cost. If I were to get an R/T, I would get the Nappa option in an instant, but I went with the Citadel which has most if not all of these items standard.

The only negative on the nappa option is that the front passenger seat can't fold forward enabling you to fit longer items in the vehicle. The auto hi beams are awesome. If you are a city dweller than you can't appreciate them. On dark windy roads, the extra second you will get seeing further down the road can save you from wiping out when there's a deer standing in the middle of the road or a disabled vehicle with no lights. They react very fast on and off and not having to bother manually playing with the stalk is a nice convenience. It's a good package and I had to get it as it's not an option if you order the tech package which I did.

Got a good deal and we're picking up a black 14 Durango R/T this afternoon.

Nappa, Power Sunroof, UConnect with Nav, and 20" polished wheels.

I will post some pics in another thread when I can.

Thanks again for all the feedback on the Nappa group. It helped!

Old thread, but rather than start a new one...

I'm considering the Nappa upgrade on an R/T. Seems like a good value for the money given all the other perks you get with it, but I'd like to know how Nappa compares to the standard leather as far as longevity/durability goes. I don't care if the leather is as soft as a baby's bum if it's going to look like a broken down rucksack after a few years. Any feedback from you Nappa long timers?

I have only had the leather for 15,000 miles but it has held up better than my escalade's during the same period. I took a look at a citadel on Cars.com that had 134,000 miles and from the pictures the leather looked brand new and it was the Napa leather package in the tan color, so it would have shown any imperfections. You can do the same.

My new R/T has the Nappa leather group and I'm guessing it will wear well. Its not cheap leather and feels heavy enough to take a few years of use without issues.

One of the nice things is all the extras you get with it...I can't wait to try the ventilated seats in the summer as I'm running black/black...heh :)
