Unlimited Warranty?

Get the Durango and enjoy the HEMI power. If you get the unlimited warranty you can keep it forever
First time in here... looking at the Durango. Not sure if I'll do a 2014 or '15. I am also one of those looking at the FE Sport. I drove the V-6 recently... wondering about the v-8. What is the unlimited warranty?

You can buy an extended warranty from Dodge that basically is a bumper to bumper lifetime year and mile warranty. They generally cost between 2300-$2500 with a $100 deductible.

Maximum Care New Vehicles Coverage

Something to be aware of when test driving: for the first few hundred miles the PCM backs off a bit..

But at any rate, get the Hemi ;)

Those were my top two and you can see which one I chose.

I drove both, but what sold me were a few things:

1. The Durangos evic is light years ahead of the explorer in terms of usability and what you can control through it
2. HEMI- when you nail the gas in a HEMI, you get music. When you nail the gas in a v6, you get, well, a v6. Granted, the explorer is faster, but I live on Long Island as well, and there is way too much traffic to worry about stoplight races.
3. Explorers are EVERYWHERE. Every soccer mom on Long Island has one.
4. I personally just like the looks of the durango better. The rear track lights are just cool. I've actually gotten a lot of compliments from complete strangers, which I never would have expected. It's been called badass, evil, and one meathead in a viper called it "beefcake" (after I put the Corsa exhaust on) which the forum members had a lot of fun with at my expense
Everything above is dead on. We were in the same boat you are. I actually wanted something bigger like the Tahoe, Denali Yukon or Expedition, but the wife thought they wer all too big and this is to be her daily driver. We drove the Explorer several times and the dealer let us have it for the whole day. Weeven picked out the one we wanted; the Sport. We drove the D, just to eliminate it and were so impressed with it that we bought it. It's definately bigger than the E, so it was a great compromise. The Hemi crushes the Ecoboost (I know what the numbers say, but the seat of your pants feel says otherwise) and controls are much more intuitive. The third row on the E sucks in comparison; adults will not be happy there for anything other than short trips. We have no regrets.

I know the OP has already moved on, but this is probably a common topic people will look for here (I certainly did). I haven't bought yet, but the Explorer was at the top of my list. Until I drove one. It felt like driving a minivan. And this was the amazingly-expensive Sport version no less. Got behind the wheel of the Durango and the Explorer was history. Not even close. The Explorer is a competent ride. Just like my 04 Pilot. But I don't want just competent this time. I want competent and fun. There wasn't an ounce of fun in the Explorer for me. It seemed like a rental car. The Durango, on the other hand, had me smiling the whole time.

Durango is now firmly in the #1 spot on my list. Just waiting to see what the '16 Pilot has in store (big reveal next week).

I agree. It's hard to remove that smile when you hit the pedal on that Hemi :)

I found the V6 fun too. Not Hemi-fun, but steering and road feel still felt great. Not what I expected in an SUV.

You and the D will always look better than the Worlds Nicest Pilot....Buy AMERICAN!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Is Dodge even technically considered American anymore? :(

Yep, the Durango is built in Detroit with a V8, it doesn't get much more American than that.

Bottom line is, drive what you dig. This tit for tat can go on for a thousand more posts and not accomplish anything. It's your money, so make the decision that's right for you. Of course, it used to be easy. The Big Three were American, and the rest weren't. Then along comes the global economy and the water gets muddy. Suddenly folks justify their Toyota purchase as an All American decision, while criticizing others' American purchase claims because their Dodge was assembled in Mexico or somewhere else. Ugh.

No one should need to justify their purchase to anyone. As Durangutan said, drive what you dig. If you don't like someone else's vehicle for whatever reason, keep your comments to yourself (Some ******** on my wifes side of the family fall into the mouth off category). My wife and I have owned many different vehicles (1 Ford/1 Chevy/1 Nissan/1 Mazda/many Toyota's/and now a Dodge. They were all excellent vehicles except for the Chevy. I married into that one and would never have bought it if I had had a say. We go by the philosophy of buying the best vehicle in the class of vehicle we want. If that vehicle so happens to be made and designed in America, great! If it doesn't, well then I guess the "American" manufacturers need to step it up.
