I agree that the GC is saturated. I have many around my area as well. There may be a problem altogether IMO with the paint area (process)in the plant as i have heard a variety of problems with quality issues. Heck i have found drips on some areas of mine including dust particals that must have gotten on the paint in the process. It does bother you a little when you pay this kind of money for a vehicle. However I am learning to live with them.

Just out of curiosity, as I don't want to read through this entire thread again, seeing who's who. Are most of these " bad paintjobs " residing in the north ? As in, majority of the people who have this, do you live in the north?

When I was in texas, I never noticed it, and now that i've been in michigan for a solid few weeks, the paint looks cloudy, and stands out even more so than it did ( or even noticeable ). Could the extremely cold weather be causing some of the cloudiness ? I'm heading back to texas on sunday, so when i get to warmer weather, i'll have a re-check,I don't think my D has seen above freezing weather in at least a few weeks.

I don't think the temperature has any bearing on this. People are complaining about it a all different times of the year. It seems that its most noticeable when there's an overcast or even in a garage.

update on my paint issue. I finally got off all the snow on mine, and the tiger stripes stood out exceptionally well... the dealer wont fix it, and Chrysler won't either, they said ( the dealer ), that because it doesn't show up good enough in photo's that Chrysler can't approve the repaint. It's on the hood, doors, ROOF!, and rear quarter panels.

Anyone having issues with Chrysler saying they won't touch it?

Ask the dealer to have the regional Chrysler rep contact you. Make an appointment to meet with the rep and show the car in person. I went through that same 'doesn't show up well in pictures' garbage too.

Scott,
Good to hear that Chrysler stepped up to the plate and made good. I just bought a 2015 Durango in GCM and have paint quality issues. This was a new purchase but was a car in stock here locally. I looked all over to find what I wanted (tow package, captain chairs, standard rims) and didn't even think to look that closely to the paint as it was brand new? The night I picked it up it was dark but under the parking lot lights I saw a "spot" in the upper rear panel under the back window. I was concerned and they told me they would fix it under warranty. Now that I have spent some time washing it I see that there are HUGE quality issues with the paint. Ironically, the GCM color was what I liked most about it. So, i love this vehicle but also feel like i didnt just spend 40k for something to be repainted. I had a body shop look at it and he thought it was a factory rework? I think based on the lack of evidence of painting (tape lines on edges by window and door opening, just my hunch) Anyway it has been bothering me and has been two weeks and 900 miles. I am going back to the dealer to express my concerns. My hope is that I get what I paid for, not some repaired vehicle that looks like crap to a good eye.... Its good to know that chrysler will stand behind their products. I will keep you all posted on my progress..

When I was looking to purchase my truck, I liked the way GCM RTs looked with the hyper black wheels when I saw them in pictures. However, when I saw them in person they looked tiger striped in different lighting. They were particularly apparent to me under the flourescent lights in the showrooms. I pointed this out to a few dealers, b/c I liked the color, but they were either unobservant or just looking to make a sale. This is the reason I decided to go with white. I liked the redline red(props to Paul) but didn't know if I would love it down the line. The GCM color variances would have completely driven me nuts. I would recommend, if you have one of these & it is affected bring it to Dodge's attention immediately. Get it documented & corrected. There is no excuse to live with this. If you don't notice you have this problem, don't look so closely. Ignorance is bliss. It will never bother you.

Looks like I have it too! Just sent out the email and let's see what they can do for me... Will update y'all later. Really hope they make me a happy consumer. Finger crossed

Have the exact same color and problem!, just Jeep GC, Chrysler hiding in the sand and oblivious to seriousness of these problems I think.
Fender is most obvious but extends to the doors as well. When it's sunny you hardly see it!.This must be a Chrysler wide problem.....
Friend of mine has Dodge RAM 2500, he too has it!. Did not notice it when I picked mine up...must have been sleeping or drooling.

Dealer added some extended warranty to make peace, I just rather see them take this thing back honestly
Paint shop quoted $3500, this shop does paint work on $100K plus cars, but still ?, who wants their new car repainted......
Chrysler approved fender only sofar - still in a battle over that.!
The shop that quoted won't do fender only as they say it won't work and need to blend, they won't do half a*s work.

I just made an appointment to see the dealer on mine as well. Allthough a different issue and different color. Mine is the brilliant crystal black with excessive orange peel. I can see it, depending on the lighting from 15 feet away. Now granted I have a trained eye, as I do dabble in auto painting, mainly motorcycles. At first i thought I was being nit picky, as I typically shoot House of Kolor products and if the clear doesnt lay flat , I will generally color sand and reshoot then do a cut and buff and end up with a mirror finish. So, I compared to the wife's car, a 2012 buick lacrosse also in a metallic black, and hers is easily 10 times better then the durango. The whole vehicle is like this.let's see if they try the whole "it doesnt show in pictures" routine. It is so bad, you can actually feel it. Didnt think to run my rands over it at delivery, and we took possession of it at like 10 pm

update on mine. Started a case with Dodge. Took it in this morning and was informed by the service adviser that there was no need to take photos. There was nothing wrong with it according to him and they refused to take pictures or escalate the issue any further. He actually said " look this Chrysler 200 has orange peel, and this wrangler has orange peel" which was no where near the amount in mine, you can see the orange peel in mine well over 15 feet away.then I noticed a challenger sitting there same color as mine with a flawless paint job, I remarked on it and he said " well the challenger wont have it because it is a 2013" So after they refused to do anything I called dodge back and they can't do anything until a dealer uploads photos of it and they claim they can not get me in contact with anyone else.

Ask for their boss on the phone that is bs

which boss ? The service manager at the dealership or the next mindless drone at the customer service hotline?

If the service manager, I am done with that dealership, Atlantic Dodge in Saint Augustine Florida. I bought it in Sanford Fl, at Fields, Fields is pretty awesome, but it is well over 100 miles away. Cant make that happen right now with a 9 month pregnant wife (due any day now).

Customer service line...get to the top, email them pics yourself
