My tranny is a granny, I've repositioned/calibrated the pedal, flipped off vag mode, it's getting annoying. 2 to 3 is probably the worst, it flips to three almost instantly and bogs down, vibrates and little throttle response. Most notable in the city. It gets punished on the on ramp where it's very responsive. But once it's back in the city it's a pooch again. There must be a way to reflash the tranny. I don't think trinity is the solution either, honestly stock is all I'm looking for, anything would be an improvement compared to what's currently happening.

The dealer may have a few Updates

what is your build date?

doesn't seem normal, I don't think I've heard any complaints like that for the '14 V8.. here or on the GC side...

My September build date 2014 RT does the same thing. The 2-3 upshift has a pronounced "lurch". Most noticeable on slow right hand turns. It's trying to upshift to 3rd at what seems like the lightest throttle position during the turn.

I agree on this topic, I hate the way my R/T shifts. Soon as my tank is empty I am going to be brave and try the 87 InTune and see how much of a dawg it is over the Diablo Tune which I hate the shifting, feels like it is lugging all the time. Super puss mode if you will.

If we have the ZF trans then I think the TCU is inside the Trans and can not be flashed outside the dealer? My Jag was the same way with the ZF trans, we couldnt flash the TCU to raise the TQ limiters that were so sensitive.

I might call the dealer and see, those guys rarely ever have an answer and typically suggest I make an appt, for them to fuss with it all day. I bought mine in Dec '13 earlier build date. Similiar to CSPTK, I agree, same issues. Although it doesn't seem a like typically problem that many are having. Seems like it can just be remapped, at least I'm hoping.

Maybe it's just a psychological effect, but I *swear* the transmission is less lethargic and more willing to hold gears, and the engine more responsive to throttle inputs when I turn Eco mode "Off". Might just be me, though...

With ECO mode off it will feel more spirited and hold the Gears longer. They will tell you the system is saving you gas.

The key sentence here is : "They will tell you the system is saving you gas."
Agreed...the MDS hasn't made that much of a difference for me.

I have a '12 Citadel with the older 6-speed tranny that had those some "lurching" problems with the Diablo Tune. When I got the Hemifever tune the shifting issues disappeared.

+1 on this. Sean does a good job re-mapping shift points and adjusting the torque management. I still had somewhat of a lag between 2-3, but his latest tune update fixed that.

I highly doubt "Eco mode" has any gas saving effect on city driving.

ECO MODE CAUSES THE QUICK UPSHIFTS, I said they will tell you it saves gas I did not say it did!

The trans on my '14 R/T is about as smooth as a speed bump. My biggest issues are: 1) when trying to hold a slow speed around 30-35mph, it feels like it won't coast at all. Hold light throttle, hit a slight downhill and lift a little, and feels like the brakes are being applied; 2) with the Eco on, engine bogs a lot instead of downshifting; 3) too much engine brake when coasting to a stop (probably related to issue #1). I'm taking it in soon for the latest recall, and going to see if there's anything they can do.

I have the same issue when switching from 2 to 3 its like a clunk took it in to the dealer and they kept the car all day to say there is nothing wrong with the transmission..so I had them put it in writing and also called corporate and opened a case..i love my truck but that hard hit does not sound normal

On my 2014 R/T, I've noticed that when I jump on it, it tries to shift from 2nd to 3rd, but then it feels like either its hitting the rev-limiter or trying to break loose and traction control is kicking in but it kicks really bad and takes a second to shift. Anyone else notice that?

I swear.....all the trash talk that goes on about what a piece of shit the <'13 6-spd was and now here I see a bunch of ragging on the new 8-spd. what gives? Do they all suck or what?

I've driven my '13 HEMI 6-spd Citadel for 2 years and 45k miles now. I think the transmission is absolutely fine. It seems to do what it's supposed to when it's supposed to. I have no complaints about it.........other than the dipshit torque management. But the Diablosport seems to be helping that out quite a bit.

Not here..smooth as butter, in all modes, eco on or off.
Without a doubt better shift quality and more responsive than the Merc 5-speed unit in my 300.

Isn't that 6-speed a Chrysler unit based on the 5-45RFE?
If yes as I suspect, then I agree it is a great transmission.
I have the early version, the 45RFE and I've had now 344,000 trouble free miles and it always responds perfectly to my demands.

What it comes down to is the tuning. Seems many manufacturers have been tuning for max FE, so it goes to the highest gear as soon as possible and then won't downshift without a heavy punch to the throttle giving you a non-responsive rig. I have no problem with that in my ZF unit so far or my 45RFE.
