I was on my way to work two days ago. The 1-2 shift was really long when first leaving my driveway. I thought its just cold. I got about 10 mins from the house crusing about 40mph and there was several bucks/surges. I look down and 3 seconds later the check engine light came on. I came to the stop light and the trans was in 7th at a stop. I went ahead and shifted to R, N, and P. Took it back to D and was still in 7th. I decided to drive it back 10 mins home and take my wifes car. While I was in my driveway I went ahead and cycled the key off completely for 30 seconds and tried again. Straight to 7th.

I called Dodge and they sent a flat bed to take it to the dealer.

The soulution:

1. Dodge said there is a new TSB on the TCM that just came out. They reflashed it.
2. Re-learned all the rpm and shift points
3. Test drove it to higway speeds and back down.

They said all is normal again and I can come get it tomorrow.

The 1-2 felt like lack of trans oil but they said its a sealed unit and all is good.

Happened to me with the 8HP70 on the R/T. Stuck on 7th and rpm ramped for three times and check engine light come on. Code was P076F incorrect 7th gear ratio.

Took it to the dealer and they cleaned the valve body / done relearn process.

So far so good.

Well I can tell you all my Durango is a whole new SUV. The driving is so smooth and it seems to always be in the correct gear even in ECO mode. What ever change they made it was perfect. After a tank of fuel it seems that it got even smoother. Maybe TCM learning or something IDK.

Spoke to soon.

The original bad ECON mode shift schedules have seemed to come back. The rough 1-2 is back. General TCM program seems really unrefined. No codes though.

Wondering if the problems for schedules are in the "learn and store in tabel" areas?

Any way to reset the TCM adaptives without a dealer visit?
