Has anyone with a 2014 Durango had the problem with hearing a whistling noise in the cabin when driving from 0 to 35 mph in the city and also hear the whistling when you are braking. I noticed this from day one at the beginning I thought it would just go away but at 2400 miles its still their. Any takes on what this noise is or am I just going crazy :?:wall:

I don't remember which thread it was but I do remember someone said their whistle was comming from the driver side door...one of the rubber gaskets wasn't flush or something or the door was off slightly. I believe their fix was to either adjust the door or pannel or gasket. Do you know where the sound is coming from?

The noise is coming from the passenger side but it also sounds like its coming from the center dash.

Ok got a call from the dealer yesterday and they told me the tech was unable to reproduce the noise. so i went this morning to take a stroll with the tech and my car. It turns out that the electronic noise (not whistling) was a normal sound that comes from the transmission even though the noise is really soft i can still hear it but at least it proves that i'm not crazy.

cant really tell if its metallic or not. i can tell its electronic. Also asked in regards to the shifting from park to drive why the gear sound like it slams and they said its because it does not have a regular shift knob to release the gear first and then shift. that is the difference from having a shift knob and rotary shift. interesting what you can learn when you ride along with the tech and ask questions. he did mention something about the gears but I cant remember what he said.

There is whistling sound that comes from alternator. It is somewhat louder under charging the battery. If the whistles remains in park and idling that might be it. I have never heard of such noise to come from tranny.

so the final report was:

customer points out noise. noise is normal condition of the car. transmission is holding in gear. subtle noise heard. similar to other vehicles.

Better safe than sorry i say.
