okay here goes.. 98 durango 5.9l 4x4. 250k miles.
the transmission has been acting funny sometimes the transmission will not shift out of first gear and other times it works perfectly fine. the other night i was driving home and when it went to shift from 1st to 2nd the rear tires actually locked up. then released around 10mph. got back up to speed and it locked up again and released around 10mph again. i figured out that if i put it in 1 where the tranny wasnt going to shift it would let me bring rpms all the way up to redline and wouldnt lock up. i limped it to a buddys house and got a ride and i let it sit overnight. i got in it the next day and it locked up 2more times driving down the road then on the 3rd attempt it shifted perfectly fine and has been working fine ever sense. im not sure exactly whats going on but i have noticed a loss in power since then if its in drive it wolnt even get up to redline as far as when trying to accelerate. but if i keep it in N it revs up just fine... any thoughts as if this could be sensor related or if i just go to the junk yard and get a different transmission. its a junker truck so im not going to take it in anywhere i just figured i would ask on here. i had a previous thread involving this but the symptoms have changed so i figured i would start a new thread. please any thoughts or anyone that have previously delt with this exact issue b4 would be great
