The facts 2005 Durango AWD five matching tires. Spare has full tread life. 50-60% on the all of the drive tires. Right rear is toast. The Spare Has gotten me home.

New set of tires will not arrive for three days.

Can I drive with the spare on the car, as it has more meat than the other three. I travel about 100 miles per day.

I'm afraid that it will hurt the differential or transmission because of the different heights.

Thanks for your response.

That shouldn't really cause a problem.

Thank you for your time. Last question, This could open up a can of worms but. . . the tires on the truck were Goodyear SR-A's I like them but thought this summer I would get something a bit better. I did buy four more at Sears but since they haven't arrived, I could just buy one use and use the spare to have two new on the rear and 50% thread on the front. Haven't had much time to really size up the vast tire market for the Durango.
Are the Goodyear SV- A worth a new set?

The best answer could be "dude your over thinking this, out the four new tires on it and move on"

Thanks again looks like a great forum here, wish I didn't need to wait to the last minute to get to know you guys.

Its always good to replace tires in sets and get a proper alignment. But with that said if you have a brand new spare and you buy 1 addittional brand new tire you surely can mount them on the D. You will want to make sure that the front tires are decent as well.
I thought you said above you had already ordered a full set. Make sure to get the alignment checked as well

Thanks Steve,

Yes I ordered a full set, then then thought I'd return 3 to save money. But the goodyears were good tires and the life on the other three is good so if this happens again I'll have backups. It's never a good time to spend $850 on tires but it could always be worse.
