Due to my poor buying experience with my local dodge dealer, I'm just trying to get an idea how many miles where on your new 2014 Durango when you test drove or bought it? I'm also very curious if you special ordered yours from the factory. After several failed dealer exchange attempts, my local dealer claimed to special order my 2014 RT from the factory. I never once received any email updates as far as the build process went, even after calling the dealer several times and validating my email address. When my RT finally showed up at the dealer, it had 23 miles on it already. I thought it was a bit excessive especially coming from the factory, but didn't say anything at the time and often wonder if it was truly built just for me. Now Dodge is asking me to do a survey in regards to my buying experience and I wondering if I should include this in the survey?

Mine was ordered through the local dealership. It had 14 miles on it when we took possession of it. Our salesman's explanation was railyard transfers, PID (an inspection process), and three of those miles was them driving it to and from a gas station to fill it up for us.

BUT, beware of some dealerships. They parked MY Durango on their showroom floor with the keys inside and the doors unlocked. We picked it up the very next morning after learning they'd done this. And while waiting on our salesman, another (not knowing who we were or that the R/T sitting on the floor was a sold order) had come up to us asking if we wanted to test drive it. It blew my mind.

The sign in the background is about 10 miles from the dealer, so I guess mine had about 8 miles when I picked it up.

Mine had 177 miles, one of the managers had just started driving it to work.

At this point it is good to remember there are two different situations:

1) You ordered the vehicle: you should end up with less than, oh maybe, 20* miles on it at delivery.
2) You bought the vehicle off the lot, or on a dealer trade: You may have hundreds of miles on it at delivery. My '99 D had about 450 miles on it at delivery, much of which was ferrying from the dealer in PA on a dealer trade. But even an off-the-lot dealer stock vehicle will have test-drive miles on it; that comes with the off-the-lot deal.

* where did I get the '20 miles' from? well, I have no inside info, but I have read in various places that, under some conditions, the vehicle might leave JNAP with as many as 10 miles on the odo.. depending on some QA and other circumstances.. then you add rail-yard transfers, filling the tank, PDI, etc etc..

Just MHO,

mine had about 40 miles on it driven from another dealership

I had 15 after I test drove it. Still had the plastic all over the seats. The salesman didn't even know he had R/T's in the back lol.
so.. it has to be hell to be a car salesperson.

but..

knowing what widgets you have, and what is different about the various widgets, would seem to be an important advantage when it comes to making the sale.

Then again, I'm not a b-school sort.

I couldn't agree more. If I can spend a few hours of research online and walk into a dealership and know a hell of a lot more about the vehicle than the salesman, I know I'm either talking to the wrong guy or at the wrong dealership altogether.

My R/T had 357 miles on it when we got it. Was a dealer trade from Kalamazoo, MI to south suburbs of Chicago. According to the online maintenance record, it had 14 miles on it when it arrived at the dealer in MI.

Mine had 14 miles. It wasn't special order, but I bought it sight unseen before it was delivered to the dealer. They had a red and black one on the lot with exact same build, and told me the Graphite was on its way. I bought it on a Saturday (last one it September), and it arrived the following Tuesday. Took them half a day to check it in, remove all protectors on dash, seats, wheels, etc., and clean it. I picked it up that evening after work.

I am in San Antonio and mine was a dealer trade from McAllen in far south Texas. Mine was delivered directly to my home with 271 miles on it. That's about right when you factor in the local original delivery mileage down there, it's week or so on the lot, mileage to San Antonio to my dealer for prep and then to my house.

challenger had 2 at delivery and 11 miles at purchase

If you register at www.moparownerconnect.com and add your VIN, it will keep you posted on recalls, etc. If you click on the Maintain & Care section there is a Service History tab which keeps track of anytime an authorized dealer performed service on the vehicle. You can also add your own service records.
