The only reason I'm so "patient" in this ordeal is I'm afraid of the payment. I can probably afford it, but my head is telling me I've never paid over $29,000 for a car, and it's wondering "Why now?" And my heart is saying "Because you survived to the age of 60 and you work a lot of long, thankless hours -- and you deserve it."
You deserve it. Life is too short. Drive what you love.

Agree. Life is too short. Get what you want providing it is affordable and within your means.

For $29k you could get an SXT and then when driving it always wish you had spent the additional on what you wanted rather than what was cheaper.

I have always been a head spender. My wife told me this time to get what I want and what will make me happy.

I am happy.

Good luck.

Danny makes a good point: "within your means"

One of the absolute worst things to do is end up (financially) upside-down in a vehicle you basically just don't like.

on the other hand, there is (almost) nothing better than being in a vehicle that fits you like a glove.

UncleGuy,

My thanks to you and to the rest of those that have responded to this thread. I am also looking for a 2014 AWD Citadel with all of the options except the rear seat entertainment package. I have found it quite difficult to find the exact vehicle I want on the lot within a 50 miles radius of where I live in Virginia. I was not interested in looking at a Citadel in Sandstone but interested to note, from the thread, that the Sandstone color is more Champagne (which I like) than the brochure would suggest. Anyway, my question, to the extent it can answered, is could I expect cash rebates between now and mid-December? I am not in a great hurry but would like to be in the Citadel before Christmas. I know that my question is of the "crystal ball" variety, but based on your respective experiences, could I reasonably expect some promotions soon? Indeed I am prepared to wait. Thank you, West.

I think it is reasonable to assume that there will be rebates on the 2014's for the next few months. The current 2014 promotion runs through 12/02/2013. This offer is virtually the same as the October offer. These incentives are "must take delivery by..." offers so the dealer would not redeem if the delivery date was beyond the offer expiration date.

I'm guilty of not reading all of the posts here, but just wanted to share a little advice on pricing. Don't let the idea that since the 2014s are new models you can't get a good deal off the sticker. A lot of the larger dealerships may not have many of the model you want on their lot, but they certainly have more on the way, so that means they'll definitely want to move their current stock. If you go to a big dealer on a slow day after the morning rush (easily can tell if 6-8 guys are just hanging out), you're much more likely to get them to bite on a lowball deal. I ended up saving over $8k off the sticker on a new Citadel this weekend. I willingly lowballed them hard and stuck with it. I came up $20/month to sink the hook in the deal, but they originally tried to negotiate the price down to go over $100/month more than I told them I would pay.

That is a MASSIVE discount! Good job. I got $4.8k off my D. Thought I did well!! I'm bringing you with me in 5 years time.

$43,275 for a fully loaded Citadel (except for the MOPAR package) from the factory here. Was shocked they were willing to deal so much on a factory order....

Just finished trim yesterday! Can't wait to get her in my hands.

Okay. Now I've heard everything! Can you share the Dealer contact info? I would WALK from Maryland to Detroit to get a deal like that. The best I've done is $46,507, but certainly not with "everything". I'm not buying the Rear Entertainment option, nor any of the Appearance Groups.

Same here would love to know the name of the dealer. The best I've done in MD is $44281(factory order) (MSRP is $50360) for a fully loaded R/T (including Read Entertainment package, w/rear bench not buckets seats).

That's a pretty good deal also considering. BTW - have you already ordered? If not...the rear DVD package is no longer available for order.

First, why would options be disappearing? I read elsewhere here that the Remote CD was eliminated. Then brought back. Now, the Rear DVD System? Are they having problems building these?

Second, I know I'm not the King of the Forum, but I think it's grossly unfair to post such low purchase pricing without declaring who the Dealers are. I thought I was okay at 11% under MSRP -- but some of these are wildly out-of-whack with believability. Or every Dealer I'm talking to is a liar. Or -- God forbid!! -- I'm a horrible negotiator. Say it ain't so!!

8% to 15% under Sticker, I might believe (although 15% is a real stretch). $43,275 for a fully-loaded Citadel? I WANNA SEE THE SIGNED CONTRACT AND THE SALESMAN'S NAME AND THE DEALER'S NAME. Okay... call me Mrs. Doubtfire. :?

Another thing... the quoted MSRP -- does that include Freight? The Purchase Price -- does that include Freight? Did you, somehow, qualify for 15 Discounts the rest of us couldn't possibly qualify for? Which ones?

I cannot tell you how often Dealer's throw prices at me for the configuration I didn't want, but do not include the Freight, with very high Doc Fees. Next thing you know, a $46,000-range Quote easily becomes $47,500. And that's with either Appearance Group or the DVD units.

Some dealerships can get options others can't. For example, when my husband was ordering his Dart, he wanted an all black leather interior. One dealership said they couldn't do it, but a few days later a different one said it could be done. Features go in and out, I think according to back order/availability. Someone said the rear DVD is on hold, I'm going to a dealership tomorrow to order and will find out what the deal is.

Also, some people have affiliate discounts when purchasing on top of the manufacturer rebates and promotions offered. My husband gets a 1% Chrysler discount through his work. Some places of employment probably offer better affiliate discounts. Not to mention bargaining, who you know at the dealership, etc. This will be the second vehicle we're ordering through a dealership and so maybe some give a repeat business discount?

I do understand what you're saying. I bought a PT Cruiser in 2004 with a Family & Friends discount, plus the only $2,000 Cash-Back + 0% Financing for 4 Years that I've ever seen Chrysler offer. And I had to call the Maryland State Attorneys General Office to get my $2,000 Cash-Back from the dealer, after all that.

But let's look at this Citadel price.
MSRP fully-decked-out except the Appearance Group = $55,100.
Stated Purchase Price = $43,275.
This is including Freight for the MSRP.

That comes to a whopping 21.4% Discount.
I might be thick in the head, but you can add up every Discount on the planet available on this vehicle and you won't reach that.

I need to see the Signed Contract, please! ;) Then I need the Salesman's name and number!!

It could be based on location, too. I'm in central KY and the B&P on Dodge is showing $51,560 for an AWD Citadel with the Hemi, more expensive chrome appearance group, tech group, tow group, skip plate group, captain's chairs, console.

That's interesting about the rear DVD package the dealer just emailed me today with that quote and didn't mention that the Rear Entertainment packer was no longer available.
