So out of the blue the wife decides she needs a car? and not just any car, but a Challenger (insert angels singing.) So at first I'm skeptical and figure she's just talking so I start poking around the ol' internet searching for a used one. Let's face it, money isn't just hanging on a tree out back, or so I thought. Turns out having a home based daycare does all right. I never really noticed how much she brought in as we have separate accounts.

Now I can't seem to find one she likes. We both agree we won't look at anything with a V6 and at first she even wanted a manual, that is until we come across a 2010 Furious Fuchsia R/T. Well I figured no way, it's still new but old stock and an automatic but we hope in the Durango and take the 45 min drive to check it out and? she wants it bad! Like a fat kid at a birthday party waiting for the cake.

We talk price and I let the guy know I'm not sure if we need this one. He goes to talk to the manager and comes back with a price of $36,900 which I figure is still too high, but they won't budge. Wifey has the look like she'll be in full B!&$@ mode on the way home if we don't talk numbers.

I didn't bring any proof of employment or the wife's tax docs cause, who figured we'd be at this stage?? I ended up faxing the documents late Sat and now she just has to wait for them to call Monday. Funny to watch her stress all day waiting to hear from the dealer!

Today or maybe tomorrow, we're waiting for them to confirm my employment.

And pic of the car.

No congrats yet, just waiting to make sure there isn't anything funny in the paperwork. I don't want to break the bank just to keep the wife happy? shhh don't tell her I said so. :cheesy: She says I don't take holidays or much time off and I don't want a travel trailer, so maybe this is what we can do as a family??

Cruising in the car should be fun and maybe some car shows in the future??

Again won't be till tomorrow as they need to look through the paper work. And my boss isn't always at the shop to answer phones and confirm employment so I know it's a hassle for them to get a hold of him. LOL Try explaining that to the wife.

Looks awesome! Good luck!

Beautiful! Not quite the Panther Pink, but close enough.

When you get it, please don't be one of those folks that call them "Challeys"? please.

And her given right to call it whatever she likes!

Beautiful car and I hope all goes well. Stinks that they're not even trying to work with you numbers wise.

Magic, you must have missed the part about not taking holidays.

Last year besides weekends I took two days off to drive to Mopars in the Park. Other than that, it's work like usual and I take holidays when it slows down. As much as I wanted to go to Carlisle and Detroit with you guys, work comes first. At the construction company I work for, if I don't show up, there's no one to call in. I work with one other guy finish taping houses. It's just the two of us so I feel bad leaving and I hardly call in sick? might as well get paid to be sick at work than at home.

Wife doesn't understand that, but maybe a car to drive around will make her happy?

UPDATE

Well the financing came through today and after work I called the dealer to see what the payments and interest and so on would be but they can't tell me much other than the payments won't be higher than X amount!

The car is in getting detailed and won't be ready till 4 pm tomorrow. They won't stay late for us so I guess I'll be driving the 45 mins quickly to get the paper work signed and get insurance. Wifey is REALLY impatient! She wants to go tonight and is upset at the treatment she's receiving. :?

Should see how things go tomorrow.

I'm sorry for how she feels, but at this point I'd tell them to take a hike. After all, you're spending money at their store so "they" should be trying to make you happy, not "you" trying to make them happy. Find another dealer!

Tell them if they want a sale, they can be a bit more patient than that.

How do I hate car dealers? Let me count the ways?
