I'm going to get a SCT tuner for my 99 5.9 D and want to know if this one will work for me? I'm going to install a Mopar Performance PCM as well, so will it work with it too or is it better to use the MP PCM by itself? the tuner doesn't have any custom tunes in it, but I guess it still has some sort of programming? thanks for the help!

I have the same tuner so it should work. One thing you need to know, SCT tuners aren't like a Superchips. They usually
don't come with any tunes and most tuners charge for 3 basic "canned" tunes. If it doesn't have any tunes, you'll have to
pay for them. Whatever tunes are loaded with the SCT, they'll replace whatever tune is in the Mopar PCM.

Yes, no tunes are included.
Make sure you tell your tuner (I'd use HEMIFEVER) that you're using the Mopar Performance PCM (have you made sure it works yet?)

So when the SCT'S are new in pkg, they come with no tunes at all? so basically you can still adjust tire size, change rev limiter, things like that, but you just don't get a tune? is the Mopar Performance PCM just a souped up stock PCM? are there better tunes than what it comes with? thanks.

No adjustment for tire size or any other adjustments period until you pay someone to create them and send them to you!
If it were me, I'd contact HEMIFEVER to get everything hand-held and tunes. He has a pkg where it's unlimited tunes so, if you make changes, so will he. Trust me, he's the best.

No, I'm supposed to get it sometime next week so I guess I'll hook it up and see what happens. when I hook it up, is there anything special that need to be done other than disconnecting the battery and unplug and reconnect the connections? I'm buying the SCT from someone over at Dak.Dur. is there a place that sells tunes pretty reasonable? does Hemifever sell the tunes as well? wonder how much?

Yes. Contact him and tell him your mods and then you can download them into the SCT you get.

Look him up at Dak Dur and send him a PM to contact you.

Thanks! I sent him a email so lets see what he says. I found his website and its shows $100 if you buy the tuner from him or $250 for the tunes if you don't purchase from him. does that sound right?

There are various SCT options through Hemifever. For $260 you can get three canned tunes you upload yourself or you can get the more expensive option where you get custom tunes. For a basic motor setup, I'd get the canned tunes. For a heavily modified D, I'd get the custom tunes.

As indicated above, there's no point to using the Mopar Perfomance PCM because the SCT program will overwrite the program in it. In addition, I'd wonder if the SCT would work with a Mopar Performance PCM, Superchips and Hypertech can't. In order for these programmers to work, they have to "recognize" the existing PCM program before they'll upload their programing. People have had issues with Hypertech/Superchips not recognizing factory updates to stock PCMs and the Mopar Performance PCM has different software programing from a stock PCM. Maybe SCT is different??

That's why I was a little leery about that eBay auction. The seller indicated he might have used a Hypertech programmer on the Mopar Performance PCM on his modified Durango and was selling the Hypertech programmer and the PCM together because he didn't know if the Mopar Performance PCM had the Hypertech program in it. I was a tad suspicious because, if he has a clue about his alleged "modified Durrango", he'd have known the Hypertech programmer wouldn't work with a Mopar Performance PCM. Maybe he did or didn't have the vehicle. Even so, maybe it was a good deal for a PCM and a possibly "VIN LOCKED" Programmer.

Greendurango, I may be interested in the Mopar Performance PCM (or may go SCT myself) but I'd first like to hear what it does when you install it.

He said his had factory + aftermarket alarm. I'm supposed to get it later today, it raining like hell outside so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try it, and will let you know what it does. are the PCM connections like a push in/pull off type connector?

Thanks Jim!

The SCT tuner will indeed work on a stock or modified Mopar Performance PCM. It worked on mine and my PCM already had the B&G flash. The SCT saved the B&G flash as the stock program before uploading to the new one created by Hemifever. I started with his basic 408 program and then used a LM2 wide-band 02 A/F meter to measure the results. Hemifever did two additional tweaks for me based on the readings I sent him from the A/F meter and BangkokD is running great.

Another happy customer.
