reverse light on tail light intermittent

Hi -

When D is in Reverse gear, the lights sometime come on sometimes they don't. I have noticed that if I work the gear shifter I can get it on. Is there a sensor on the steering wheel that needs cleaning?

The switch is an integral part of the neutral safety switch on the transmission. It's located on the driver's side of the tranny just above the trans pan. You'll loose about a quart of fluid when you pull the old switch out. there's really no adjustment to the switch. Be sure to check the wiring around the plug for the switch, to make sure that it's also good.
