I noticed what looks like oil on the bottom of the shocks (both sides) the other day and my truck has been losing oil very slowly. Would a bad shock look the same or do I have bigger problems? The pan and motor looks fine from underneath and there are no drip or puddles on the pavement.

Wife's Saturn has a bad rear seal and oil drips/puddles everywhere but the way it went from top to bottom made it look like a leaky tranny pan.

If the shocks are leaking, it'll be a semi-clear oil. If they're leaking, replace them as they're past useless.

Took another look over the weekend and no leak on the drivers side shock. The passenger side is leaking like sieve and dropping fluid slowly all over the garage floor.

Pix is hard to see, but it's the bottom of the shock dripping a clear to cloudy looking hydraulic fluid. The entire shock is oily to the touch from the top down.

Not uncommon for them to do this. The upper seal has gone and fluid is pumping out of the shock body. Replace both front shocks as there's no repair.

This truck is paid off and I don't want to put anymore money into it than I have to. I figure most of what I do on it is more than most people do. Is there anything cheaper than Monroe? :D

Hey! :x The Gabriels I have work great. They're ultras though so better quality. :cheesy:
