Yesterday I discovered the turn signals on my 01 D stopped working, even the emergency lights. Other lights are OK.

First of all, I've checked all the fuses and they all seem to be in working condition. So what would be next to check out?

I believe this could be a relay, but where would it be located? :?

Any help will be appreciated.

There should be two choices of fuses or relays.
  1. Underhood behind the battery there's the PDC (Power Distribution Center) with various fuses and relays.
  2. Open the drivers door and there's a fuse panel behind the removable plate on the side of the dashboard. look for anything marked flashers, turn signals, etc.
Check the fuses first and let us know what you find?

Also look under the dash as there are flashers in the panel against the firewall.

Hm. The hazard flashers and turn signals have separate fuses, but both use the same combination flasher so the flasher might be my first suspect.

Thanks for responses and input!

The flasher was actually under the dash left of the steering column. Very easy to find if you know it's there.

Yesterday I re-checked all the fuses in the junction box and PDC and no problems there.

Additionally, I've got a some wiring diagrams for the 02 Dakota and checked the wires to-and-from the flasher and all seems ok so the problem should be with the flasher.

The worst thing is that nobody has this thing in a stock! Average order time is 2 weeks and the dealer said the flasher isn't compatible with other Dodge or Chrysler vehicles so there's no cross reference from other models. Just can't imagine why they'd re-invent the bicycle again and again and make such an elementary thing different!?!? :wall:

greendurango,

Hmm, sounds interesting
The part number on it is 56049114AA

tomk,
Indeed, the dealer said that it could be AB and AC as well. Maybe for the 02 and 03? :?

The last 2 letters refer to the part version for Dodge. An AC part is a newer version of the same part and is interchangeable with the AA.
