Well good news, the wife is asking about Carlisle 2011. It's a 31 hr drive, but at least she's considering it.

One year to persuade her. Just got to figure out what to do with the kids??

If we don't get a factory tour for 10-11, I'll try again.

ah, tempting fate. :)

If we get an '11 factory tour, I might well try to do both. Lots of miles for me, but way more for you. we'll see what the work situation is.

Mike, drive to one and fly to the other.

If there's a factory tour, wouldn't that be in Detroit now? If so, it'd be great to tie it into the Dream Cruise. The Dakota guys got a Viper factory tour before the plant closed during a Dream Cruise. It'd be cool to get two events in for one trip.

The plan will be to tour the factory the Thursday before the main Dream Cruise weekend.

We can do the tour in the AM and perhaps hit some of the site seeing lake stuff the Crossfires did in the afternoon on Thursday. Then back to the hotel and get ready for Friday. Friday we can do the 12 miles or so and hit the factory displays. That leaves Saturday for the general get-together with the Dak boys at the top of the loop and everyone can be home for/on Sunday.

How's that sound?!

The ball's already rolling, we just need to actually have a Durango released and popular to connect the dots with it being 10 months out.

That leaves Carlisle in early July and the factory tour/Dream Cruise for late August. Pick your poisons.

Even if the D isn't "out" by then, the plant is certainly there and the world knows that's where the D is gonna be built.

Have you guys been successful at getting some contacts inside the plant?

As of yet, no contacts at all on my end.
Contact Pete (Nav) and see if he can reach Joann to see if she may be able to hook us up.
I emailed her a while ago but no response. I hope all is well, Pete will know as he's good friends with her.
Dwayne was talking to my wife about the Dream Cruise as well on Sunday morning and she said it should be fun.
No kids though. We'll see.

I'll see Jo Ann in January in person. We have dinner with her on the way down to Florida when we stop in Middletown, DE. Seems to me they might do tours for the Jeep guys given their connections so maybe they'd do a DOC tour. It'd be a good PR thing on their part for the new D launch.

Somebody REMIND me in early January and I'll talk to her about possible contacts. What was the name of the D plant manager who went to the Ram plant in St Louis and what are the dates for the Dream Cruise?

The guy who was the plant manager at shutdown was Joe Ozdowy, who last showed up on Google as the Head of Exterior Building and General Services for the Chrysler Training Center in Detroit (see the pic at the bottom of this link.)

Larry Koenig was the plant controller and was a pretty enthusiastic supporter of the DOC tours in the later years. I don't know where he's landed? He currently shows up on LinkedIn in the "greater Philadelphia area" and I sent a connect request, we'll see if he responds.

the dream cruise would be a blast.

Hm, I thought one of those guys went to the Ram plant in St Louis. Maybe he got moved from there. Jo Ann is out of the picture for a while. She has some health issues she's dealing with so I'm not going to bother her right now. I hope she'll be better by the time we plan to see her in January.

They just moved it where it cost them less! :cheesy:
Hemi's were all built in Mexico already and now body parts are also built there. By keeping the entire truck assembly there, the total cost is less.
Same reason they closed Delaware? all about Logistics and labor cost.

If the D plant's not ready, maybe we could do a Challenger plant tour? We could also do a photo get together at the Chrysler museum.

Heavy, that's a nice idea as well.
