My stock AM/FM/CD/tape unit is having trouble receiving stations under 101.9 mhz. Stations at this frequency and above come in okay, but I get only static on the lower frequencies. I checked the antenna connections and all seems okay. AM stations come in fine, but there's some hum on some frequencies. Could the tuner be going bad?

Did you clean the mast connection between the antenna and the fender mount? Is there a break/pinch in the cable? If that's all good, now would be the time for a killer system to go in there.

same thoughts as Mike. something in the door jamb area or mast connection.

I get good AM reception and all of the continuity tests for the antenna and cable come out good. I noticed that FM reception degrades to nothing over time. On first start up, stations come in ok but not great. Eventually, even my external Sirius radio signal doesn't get received by the tuner. Me thinks the tuner is dying.

I like Mike's thinking!! lol here's what could be a cheap solution: clean the mast and the metal part of the base with rubbing alcohol. I learned this a looooong time ago from a guy who competed in car stereos when I was starting out. he had poor reception and this worked for him and me as well.
