The Bridgestone tires the AT Revo's you have, if not rotated right will wear real bad
Another good choice in tires is The Michelin LTX will last you 70+k miles as well ad perform good all year

Thanks for the tips! Yeah it seems the previous owner never rotated them until just before I bought it, and it was making a horrific sound when you slowed down - a flop?flop?flop?flop that got slower as you slowed down. Never did it speeding up though.

It needs a good clean and detail inside and out and the rust fixed but $1500 is just a little out of our budget right now.

How much did the lift and the tires/rims cost you total?
The body lift I bought was the Performance Accessories kit, got it online for about $280. As for the T/S lift, all that requires is a pair of shackles for the rear leaf springs which run you roughly $45 (that raises the rear 2" then you crank the torsion keys up front to level out the ride). That's 5 inches of lift for less than $350! The rims I got a really good deal on, mine cost me $383 shipping and tax included (and they were a brand new design for last year unavailable at any distributor). My tires on the other hand were more expensive than your average brand because I wanted Toyos, but even with the tires I managed to find a great deal online and paid about $1100 for the full set of 33"x12"x16" Toyo Open Country M/T's. $1500 in tires and rims, about $330 for the lift; that along with a few other minor items comprised my first wave of mods to my D back in August of last year, about 2 grand total.

There's no way I'd even trust myself to fit it on my own so I'd have to find someone local to do it and watch/learn.
That's what I thought to myself when I first bought my D. After a few months of intensive research and gathering advice from sites like Dak-Dur, DodgeTalk, and of course, the DOC, I felt confident enough to tackle it myself. It certainly wasn't a walk in the park, but I got it all done inside of a weekend and it's been solid ever since; well worth the effort and saved me a ton on labor costs to have a shop do it.

Now, ask me to install a PC into a car and I'm golden. In fact this is one thing I'm looking at right now to run as a mediaserver for the kids.
That I'd love to see! I say have at it, and make sure you keep us updated with pics! I've seen the new Caravan's actually come equipped with wifi, so you can surf the internet on the go; I was thinking it'd be cool to see a D with that capability.

That's one good looking D, and you got the sunroof :D
Oh wow I didn't notice that at first glance, very nice! Could you take a few pics of the sunroof close up and where the controls are mounted? I want to have a sunroof installed on my D and there's a place fairly local to me that specializes in custom sunroof installations so this is a hot topic as far as I'm concerned! :cheesy:

I think a red D with the tan interior would be really nice. I'm liking your interior color more and more. Headliner matches, woodgrain matches. Makes me wonder how the black interior became standard and the tan secondary since all the headliners and overheads are tan anyways.

I was told the Firestone Destination A/Ts are a good tire too? How do they measure up?

These ones are all good except that one back right - I don't know if it'll ever wear down to the point of no noise, but the tire dealer said there was no danger, it wasn't shredded and it's good for quite a while if I can deal with the noise. I'm just wondering what kind of stress that wobble would put on the wheel hub?

Sorry for all the questions guys.

I'm def going to do the T/S lift and the body lift. For so little money it's a no-brainer, but I simply know I won't be able to do it myself. I don't have any tools to do it with and have zero mechanical ability, so I'm going to have to find someone to do it. I've been calling around but so far no luck. I might have to start considering driving it to the Twin Cities to get it done.

As for the media server, the technology has been around for quite a while with solid state drives (impervious to vibration like a normal platter-based hard drive). It's just a question of finding a small enough case and working out how to power it. I see tons of small screen DVD players on eBay for cars, and hooking it up would be easy enough (sadly though no headrests so I can't use the headrest dvd screens).

It'll never smooth out. The damage is done. If anything, it'll progress and get worse. Sorry for that bit of news. Other than that, welcome to our site. We can help with about anything you want to know how to do, and can help develop the modification bug that's inherant to us all.

I'm with you there Indy, I love the tan interior, and the wood grain dash matches so well with it as opposed to the black/dark slate gray interior. One of the items on my mod list is completely transplanting a later model Gen1 tan interior into my D. I want tan cloth seats though, unless I can track down a full set of black and tan R/T leather, at least for up front but preferrably the 2nd and 3rd rows as well.

I have the firestones you're talking about on my 98. Very good tire and QUIET. By the way I'm from Oak Creek, WI halfway between Milwaukee and Racine going south toward IL. Very nice truck you have there. If you're talking about rust just below the windows. The stripping at the bottom of the window was notorius for bubbling with rust. Not to worry. They're called belt strips and they pop right off and are easily replaced without tools.

I have a moonroof too. Excellent. These other guys need a lot of convincing to put one on their trucks. They don't know what they're missing. :cheesy:

Is that the webasto moonroof? Do you have the "idiot" timer that automatically closes the roof unless you push one of the two buttons within a few seconds after you shut the motor off.? That was invented for people like me who ignore weather reports.

Are your seats heated too?

Zen you want to go with the webasto brand sunroof. Look them up on the net. www.webasto.com. Your local shop should be able to hook you up. Just make sure you get the timer option with it. You won't be sorry.

Yea I've researched the Webasto unit and it looks like a really nice setup, and yea I'm gonna need that 'idiot' timer, because I know I'll forget to close the damn thing sooner or later! I want to have it done before the summer is over so I can enjoy it to the fullest before the weather starts getting cold again.
