The two gas charged struts that support the rear hatch. They don't have it at RockAuto. Does anyone have a part number and supplier? I'm tired of using a prop rod to keep that thing from coming down on my head.

Pick them up anywhere. Autozone, Pepboys, NAPA. They all carry them.

Well I checked PepBoys today. They wanted $45 a piece.
Anybody know of a place that has them cheaper?

I submitted info based on the R/T with 5.9 so if you have a different model or engine verify it fits at the website. I can't imagine the price on liftgate/trunk struts being any different, but you never know these days.

I used dealer stocker replacements.

1st visit, I was sold the wrong ones.
2nd visit, I assume they were the right ones. They were a royal PITA to change. In hindsight, I should have left the old ones on another year.

Do you recall how much they were at the dealership? I'm surprised they were difficult to change. It looks like a pretty straight forward swap out. I can't wait another year to do mine, maybe a month, but not a year. Right now I'm using a prop rod to keep it from coming down on me.

Around $40/each is the price at most places. Mine were finally shot last fall and I don't remember where I got them from. It was whichever local chain was cheapest. Install was easy. Indy, what did you have a problem with?

Yeah, I switched out a buddy's pair of rear liftgate shocks all by myself with a little help from a broom handle. Forgot what size torx drive but relatively easy.

Yup! What I did. One at a time and the broom handle for extra support cause them things are heavy!
