Coolant should be present at least midway up the holes in dipstick when cold.
What year and engine? assuming 2000-2003?
Check your water pump weep hole and, on passenger firewall on some models, there's a small pump that can leak and it goes unnoticed because the coolant rolls down onto the exhaust and burns away.

That's the level in the expansion/overflow tank. You could have lost a little or it was never filled up. When the engine is cool, remove the radiator cap and check the level in the radiator and make sure it's full, then fill the expansion tank.

Didn't know Early Gen 1's had a coolant dipstick like 00-03
