Was at Firestone waiting to pay for the alignment and the guy comes back in starts in with the up sell. Your truck needs new struts. Struts? I say. Yeah, the front end is ridding very low, is it lowered? No. It's almost touching the bumpstops. Well it's stock and the torsion bars do the lifting? I then have to explain the difference between shocks and stuts to the guy. Paid for my alignment and went on my way.

lowered guys just cut the bumpstops down then? I want to go down an inch but there's not much room.

stupid people shouldn't breed or work on automobiles. I had to explain the diff to my 36yr old brother a couple months ago too, lol.

Yes you have to cut them. If you go much over an inch, you'll be very close to the metal cups. People have cut those off and just added a simple bolt in stop.

Why didn't you lower it and then go for an alignment? Not much will change, but that's the way I'd have gone.

Not quite ready to lower it yet and my alignment was waaaaaaaay off! So bad that I had a blow out from inner tread wear. So, once I put the new "to me" Goodyears on (I found a 10 dollar off coupon), I got it done ASAP.

I want to get new shocks before I drop it, get some blocks for the rear (probably the factory "blocks" from a Dodge Ram), and possibly new U-bolts.

If you're going to drop the D, get shocks sized for the drop or you'll break them by bottoming them out. Yes, get new U-bolts.

1-2 inch lowering is ok with stock length shocks. I've had Bilsteins on mine for 7-8 years.
