Hi guys and gals, my name is Michael I live on a small island on the Southeast coast of North Carolina... I own a small construction company and Charter fishing business... I on a 08 Durango SLT 4.7 L... To say the least the Durango has been absolutely phenomenal... As of right now we are sitting at 351,917 miles and I am just now beginning to have some transmission issues... Truck has always been serviced before due date and take it very well care of... Hoping you guys can teach me some things as I've really never worked on the Dodge... I have a 2000 F-150 that I work on weekly... I can take that sucker apart and put it back together blindfolded... It's sitting at 347000 miles... To say the least I like to get every bit out of a vehicle I can LOL... Look forward to meeting and discussing some things with some of you guys hope everyone's having a great start to 2019

Hi, I'm a 61 year old mechanic that has owned only Mopar my entire life. Of coarse everybody, myself included still has questions, and I really wanted a place to go just to skat through ideas, problems, and yes of coarse answers, and fixes, on so many issues we can be stuck on.
Oh, I own since new a 99 Durango 4x4, with exceptional tow and off road package ordered new. Dana drive drain and giant Dana 5.10 limited slip gears.
Never seen one with a 3/16 steel heavy as hell skid plate package under fuel tank, rear diff, front diff, transfer case, and engine oil pan, all factory. 5.9 goodie set up with the common 46RE trans. 230.000, and will keep it as long as I last.
Thanks Guy's and Gal's, really glad I found this place..

Have only had her about four months, If someone could just answer one question, how hard is it to replace front axles?
Exhaust manifold gaskets can sure be a maddening job, can't they !!! >>To me Dodge makes most things understandable. With a quick swift look through a manual or perhaps a video you will see it isn't that difficult of a job. Pop the front diff cover off, and you will see what holds the axles in. Just curious why did so much go wrong with this Durango, and you still have the self drive to go after everything that goes wrong with it. I assume your doing most of the past work yourself, or at least involved with it. Sound pretty cool, hope it turns out well.

    2002 Dodge Durango SLT 5.9L V8
    All,

I am an American expat working in Kuwait. I recently purchased a 2002 Dodge Durango nearly 2 months ago for $1300. It's a decent vehicle that will get me around, but it definitely needs some love. It looked pretty good from the outside (minor dings and scratches) and the engine seems to be in good condition. I think the previous owner did the oil changes, but neglected other issues with the vehicle. I've found numerous things that are wrong with the Durango in the short time that I've had it. I've already started some of the repairs and i've taken a couple pics, but I plan on documenting everything. I'll try to post pics and prices of everything that I repair along the way. I'm willing to put some money into the truck to maintain it for longevity, but I don't plan on doing any real mods or anything fancy. I just need 4 wheels and an engine to get me where I need to go, somewhat comfortability. I've looked at a bunch of stuff in the forum and there is plenty of helpful information. I hope you guys can help me out as I embark on this journey of restoring this Durango to a reliable daily driver. thanks in advance!!

New joiner here. I generally modify most of my vehicles, but haven't had the time or funds to do anything more than a K&N drop in filter for my Citadel. I've had it for just over 2.5 years and am planning to start some mods this summer. Removing the factory running boards now that the kids are big enough and don't need them, getting front windows tinted this week. Hopefully wheels and tires over the summer and maybe an exhaust. Looking forward to what comes.
