The ZF 8spd has outperformed manual transmissions, which is why it is used in so many high performance vehicles. As much as I enjoy driving a stick, I'll take the better performing setup.

A common debate on Mustang, Camaro, and Corvette forums, where buyers can choose either one. And in the final analysis, everyone is correct. the numbers don't lie.....most automatics these days are better at the dragstrip...but they are different driving experiences and at the end of the day, if you have a choice, get whichever blows your skirt up. In the mid atlantic, though, the "take rate" for automatics v. manuals for corvettes and camaros in the mid-atlantic is about 9:1 in favor of the automatics....the ratio is probably similar elsewhere in the US. Most supercar makers have abandoned manuals entirely, for now. They will likely come back at some point, as a retro item...

Love the manual in my Z06, recognizing that I give up a couple of tenths in the quarter mile.....and I have no issue with the automatic in the SRT since I use it for towing and....it is a pretty good automatic......if I had a choice for the SRT I owuld have chosen the automatic based on my intended use....

enjoyed the "pursuit" DSRT hurtling around RA....been there myself and that is an excellent track to showcase what a near 800 hp suv can do.I would love to follow that and watch all the crazy yaw angles and front steering corrections to keep that beast on the tarmac.
