    Gear selector recall

I read somewhere that almost all of the first gen durangos had a recall for the shifting linkage. My durango has been having some very strange things happen woth the gear selector. The indicator will read "P", but the white reverse lights remain on. Another issue with it is the truck doesnt go directly into park like a normal vehicle does. Most of the time it just goes to the "R", and refuses to select the "P" unless I reverse an inch or so. I find this kinda funny to be honest lol

When I had my 2001 R/T, I had the same problem... don't think there was a recall on it at the time I owned it though..

i'm pretty sure there was never a recall for that.

    is this a 4.7 or a 5.9?

sounds like a problem with the TRS (transmission range sensor)

    It's the 5.9, with a 46RE transmission 4x4

sounds more like a linkage problem or a bent/worn parking pawl.

Just jumped on the Chrysler website via another link in another post. My 02 has an "incomplete" recall for a shifter blockage I think he said...I know it's labeled as a "G28"....it enables the shift lever to come out of park no matter whether the ignition switch is locked or not....I was told it will be honored and it'll take about an hour...not sure if this could be the cause of some of your issues or not though....

I know that's an old thread, but note for hystory won't hurt. I solved problem like this by adjusting shifter cable.
