    Just an update.

I actually ordered some black tips already, but will have these as my backup in case those don’t look right. Thanks

I can get you a side photo maybe tomorrow, currently in the middle of a snow storm here.

No adapter. What I did is I cut the old tips off flush at the tip leaving an inch or two of pipe coming out of the resonator. Then got a piece of 2.25"id pipe of that same length and put it over that stock piece then put the tip on. That extra sleeve of pipe made it the exact size of the inlet of the tip. Then just welded it all together.

Would it have been possible for you to bolt on the new tips. I'm not into welding and need an easy fix.

You can bolt them on. They are meant to be bolted. You would just have the shop cut off the stock tips and leave an inch or so of piping coming out of the muffler. The new tips will go ontop and would be tightened using the bolts. You will need an adapter since those tips are 2.5ID and the stock piping is 2.25, but yes you can bolt them. It’s just better to have them weld or maybe hit them with some tacks to keep them in place.

Hey you got any more pics of the Pypes tips installed? I’ve had those Redtail 4” tips for almost a year and haven’t had them installed yet. I’m thinking 4.5” is the way to go instead.

New to the forum. Recently leased a 2019 Durango RT and was looking to upgrade the exhaust tips. It’s Knuckle White with Black Interior and the Blacktop package, so I was looking to add some black exhaust tips to match the wheels. Was thinking of the Jeep SRT ones, but they will cost over $300 +installation and they would need a reducer, as their inlet size is not 2.25. I’ve measured the stock exhaust tips and they are 4 inches long and 3.5 wide. Was looking for something with an inlet of 2.25 to match the stock, outlet of 4-4.5 and length of 6-7 inches (Double Wall/Slant Cut) to make it look more aggressive, but it has been extremely difficult to find. I have found a Magnaflow that has specs of 2.25 x 4 x 7 but it’s not double wall and it’s SS, so I would have to paint it.

Has anyone found any glossy black tips that did not need some sort of modification? Prefer them to be flush with the cutout, and by my measurements, that’s a max of 7 inches long.

Closest I’ve found Is this: DT-24175BK
Black Powder Coated 4" Resonated Angle Cut Bell Tip

    http://www.dtexhaust.com/images/thum...plmth8rkp69f60

Kinda look like the SRTs but preferred more of a straight line instead of a bell like look. But then again, that may not show.

    Thanks for your help!

I was just curious. Why do you want them 6 to 7 inches long when the stock tips were only 4 inches?

Wouldn't they be sticking out too much?

The original tips sit too far back, which is the main reason I wanted to change them. If you measure from the muffler to the bumper (flush), you get 7-7.5 inches. If you find a 2.25 inlet exhaust tip that is 7 inches long, you will sit perfectly flush with the cutout of the bumper.

I found 2.5 inlet ones 4 inch wide and 6 long (APR brand), added an adapter and for brought them flush with the bumper. They don’t stick out at all.

So I take it you couldn't find 4 1/2 inch?

And one other question, did you clamp them on or did you have to weld them?

The best 4.5 inch ones are Pypes, which were posted earlier in the forum. I painted the adapters and clamps, and had them clamped on and through some tacks on there as well so they are more secure.

The 4.5 would fit the cutout perfectly, so I would just go with the Pypes brand ones which are like $80 for both. The cool thing about the APR ones is that they are black chrome.

    Thanks for the info.

I just placed my order for the Pypes on Amazon.
