I ended up going Nitto 420S in 265/50/20; $680 shipped to my door from Summit Racing, so pretty good price I think. I'll post some updates later of driving impressions.

Some good reading here. I just replaced my tires. I have a little over 58K on the truck now. The tires hit end of life. I ended up going with Michelin Premier LTX. Have had them on less than a month now and have been very pleased. Much quieter ride and doesn't seem to have any issues gripping the road.

Can you take a pic looking down the side of the Durango? I want to see what a stock size 420s look like. Thanks

I'm at 5 and 1/2 years on original goodyears. Still got some tread left. What's your age limit for tires?

Be careful, because nothing that is really inexpensive in this size is going to be a very good tire.
I have the exact set of tires on my ride. They were installed at roughly 55k mile and I now have 114k mile on my Durango. With nearly 60k miles on them, they are doing a fantastic job and appear to have at least another 10k left in them. I liked them so much that I bought another set of pirellis for the wife's Journey.

As for the GY Fortera, I was not overly impressed with them. I felt mine wore out way too early for rural highway driving.

Just put a set of Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus on my van. Very impressed. I'd planned to go with the Michelin LTX M/S or whatever they go by now, but I couldn't pass up the deal on the Scorpions. I have been very impressed overall so far with them and would consider them for my D, if I hadn't put Falken Wildpeak's on it 1,000 miles ago. They are smooth, much quieter than you'd figure, and very confident.

I'm really liking my purchase of Defender LTX. I would recommend them. They are not the 'sport' option. But I don't view our 3 row SUV as a sports car.

I've been running the Michelin LTX MS2 (now renamed/replaced by the nearly identical Defender LTX) for the last 4 years and 75K miles. Great tires and they still have 6/32" tread remaining, only downside is cost.
