Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) -Thoughts and Impressions

I have a 2016 R/T, loaded, including adaptive cruise control. What are the opinions of those that have it? Do you use it?

I really like using ACC on the open road and the "tractor-beam" effect, where it perfectly tracks the car in front. Using it in the city has some undesirable results due to rude drivers and close quarters. Even on the closest "following" setting, the distance to the car in front, while although the safest distance, allows other drivers to jump in front of me. When this happens, the ACC applies the brakes hard in an overreaction and is quite alarming and generates a feeling of loss-of-control.
I've noticed the radar beam is VERY narrow, which is good, but the D speeds up, then slows back down, when changing lanes as the beam hits the gap between cars in front.
Are there other aspects that I am not aware of? What are your impressions of the ACC?

The only complaint I have is that it shuts off when you come to a complete stop. Which makes stop and go traffic more annoying than it should be. I wish it stayed on.

It holds for about 5 sec at a complete stop...gives you a warning too.

I think you got it pretty much spot on fastcb.
I don't use it on the open road as I've found myself planted behind a slower vehicle at times and not noticed I was not going 10mph lower than my set speed.
I use it in heavy traffic where it works very well IMO.
Also great safety if you encounter fog.

One more thing: I'm not too crazy about that huge wart on the front. LOL

On the interstate while using ACC, I switch speedometer to digital so it's easy to tell if Durango slows down 2or 3 mph

I love the ACC on the highway.
Yep, you do need to be aware of when you are stuck behind a slowpoke, but that's not too hard..

Better than them trying to "hide" it with a fake grille piece or something. I like that it's down low and not trying to be something it's not lol. Mercedes is guilty of this
